I know that people believe that they are mother and daughter because Derpy is shown as an adult (or maybe a teenager) in Cutie Mark Chronichles. However, if you see the flashbacks, some of the fillies and colts in the background during the flashbacks are still fillies and colts in the present. Also, on a cover for one of the IDW comics, she (along with Dash, Shy, and Wild Fire) were shown as fillies. Then again, this is a cartoon. There doesn’t have to be a lot of continuity.

I always thought it was either that or they have a sisterly relationship.

Then again, after all the controversy, it will never be canon. She’ll probably, based on the Season 3 finale, begin to appear in the background frequently, however. I mean, they have to. Despite the fact that Derpy does not have a name anymore, Hasbro markets the fuck out of her.

Has anyone ever considered them sisters? That’s kinda what I believe. I feel like the only person with that opinion.

People overrating a Comic relief character acting like shes their god while she will never have any important role. seriously so what if she has derpy eyes? Alot of people in real life have one so why dont you get off your asses and worship them?

But you do make a fair point. I’m too argumentative and unnecessarily belligerent when I make statements like that.

Also, background events are added by the animators and are unscripted, so don’t get ranting too much on their canonity.

I don’t really get it why it is important for some people to beat a dead horse about what’s ‘canon’ and what’s not. Most of the stuff we do is non-canon, coming in loud yelling that everyone should stop and stick to the official is just butthurtitis.
 
You know how we make memes? A single fanartist needs to do them. That’s it. And occassionally the idea is funny enough, or the artist delivers it amazingly enough, that others start to borrow it.
 
Trying to tell these artist what they can and can not do, because you lack the artistic talent to make what YOU like happen, is really so…entitled that I have no praise for the bad attitude.
 
(In my ideal world, everyone would be drawing their own versions. In practice, one group of people are following/expanding on each others fanons (which is wonderful) and the other halfs sits on their asses and complains about it (which is sad).)
 
Also I should stop posting in the troll’s thread.

I love it when people believe things that are directly contradicted by the show in a very obvious manner.
 
Especially when that person has acknowledged whatever contradicts it but continues asserting their perspective.
 
Although I’m sure I’ve done that so I can’t be too judgemental.
