Yeah, Ferric is basically getting in with the pony version of Andrew Carnegie. I figure MLP is about 1900 tech level.
Some tech is stunted due to Magic and a generally peaceful society/foreign relations.

“The Adventures of Applejack”
AJ, now married to a stallion named Ferric, gets bitten by her wanderlust bug after Ferric moves them to a small, run-down city named Pits-burrow to begin his study in the new technology of the mass production of ‘steel’.
Away from the farm and everything she knows and loves, AJ struggles to find happiness in this unexpected turn Ferric has taken. With his education and job taking all of his time, and AJ being miserable in their tiny apartment, her going on an adventure might be the thing to save their marriage… But separation and distance are strong influences. Will AJ want to come back after Ferric finishes his studies and begins making his fortune in Steel, or will she decide to go her own way?

‘I’m recuperating… Broke my collarbone and three ribs over Easter. Fun times on a dirtbike that had an abrupt ending on the last day. (fortunately! it would really suck to break bones on the first day!)

Yep! I’ve had endangered birds in my attic. I waited till they vacated then screened the ventilation holes.

Happy Thanksgiving! Mine was great (other than the TWO near traffic collisions I avoided). Family, friends, and a lot of laughs! It was a good holiday for me!

Either you are exercising your abilities in understatement, or I have been lax in my description of this show and robbing you of information for objectivity.

Yeah. My opinion, G5 series has hit its targeted age demographic, squarely, and there’s nothing for anyone outside of that limited age bracket to enjoy, so just get up and leave the room.

I did go back, and back, and back…. You get the idea…
I finished the first episode in several five-minute or so pieces. I wanted to see the villain’s motivation, which is being kept generic “Mor Powr! Yarr!”
Ugh!
And Hitch’s “Gee, what about this Earth pony magic..?” Yeah, what about it? That might be interesting?
Too bad the show has just thrown a bunch of plot threads into the air and doesn’t seem to care about focusing on any of them.
Kill the dragon. He’s not cute, nor is he any use. He’s a distraction, and not a good one by any stretch.
Gen 5 has aimed at cute and missed. I don’t like the hearts on the hooves, (I’d give it a pass if they were upside down, more to the actual hoof pattern) it’s a cutesy addition.
Ugh! I’m gonna go watch Gen 4 season one again to purge this monstrosity from my mind.

The dragon is mind-meltingly annoying, both in action and in voice.
I can’t stand the filler chuckling/laughing that’s shoved in to highlight “they’re friends, and they enjoy each other!”
I cringe at the clumsy “Oops! I did it again!” attempts at comedy.
I can’t even get through the first episode.
And I want to give it a shot, but I’m not going watch this just because “Mor Pone!”.

All this does is serve to show how brilliant Lauren Faust is.
It might get better, but I’m not investing any more time into this. And certainly not any money.

Nope. I might pick up Netflix for a month to watch it, but haven’t seen anything.

Just finished reading a bit of Fanfiction on FIMfic
It is a swansong. The title is literal.

This makes the third author on that site that I know of who has left the fandom.

I surprised at how this is affecting me. I was close to only one author, but I guess I just don’t like the goodbyes.

Okay! now that the B&B comment is out of the way, I saw a tornado only once IRL. It was back on my uncle’s farm in Misery.. Err, Missouri. (During August, it can feel the same to a Californian) Where we were driving I don’t remember, I was looking at the clouds while my uncle drove, wondering if there might be rain when a cylindrical cloud began to descend. I pondered it for a while, waiting till it was about halfway down before I asked my uncle, “Hey, is that a tornado?”
“Nah!” he replied quickly, but stared a bit, pulled over, and stopped. “Actually, I think you’re right!”
It never touched down, but eventually retracted back up into the clouds. We resumed our trek.
It was the weirdest thing to see, it didn’t look real to me.
I told my aunt about it and she was astonished that my uncle had stopped to watch it, while on top of a hill, no less!
I was young and ignorant, so if he wasn’t worried, neither was I. I was glad I got to see one, though.
