@Cyborg_pony
Horrible thing to happen to anyone, but for someone who spent so long honing and relying on his voice…
The tweet says he’s recovering otherwise, which is good.

@Don’t
Not ringing any bells with me.
I made a mistake before. I said it looked like Carl2 was on Jettix, but further looking says it was on Teletoon. Also, there’s only one T in ‘Jetix’. Either way, that could be a lead, since lists of shows they’ve both put out are available in places like this or this.

So far, I’ve seen ten out of order episodes of new Animaniacs and a couple clips and…yeah, it’s usually pretty funny, overall.

Man, those Russian election meddling jokes just got funnier every time. Not because the joke was so good it retained the humor over all the repetitions. No, it…it definitely wasn’t that. It was from me imagining the writers of those episodes watching the news that fateful day when the report was gonna come out. I pictured them doing it like kids watching Saturday morning cartoons. Dressed beyond casually, bunny slippers, big bowl of Lucky Charms. Hoping with the same energy as “Man, how will the X-Men get out of this one!?” that they’d nail Trump to the wall with indisputable proof that he and Putin were in cahoots (maybe in cahoots…and love?). And after months of reviews, investigation, testimony, calls for impeachment, absolute and unshakable certainty from most of the media that Russia definitely hacked our very democracy at Orangeman’s behest, they found out that…naw, prob’ly not.

And I imagine them dropping their spoons and splashing their heart-pattern underwear with purple milk at the shock. At not being vindicated and at…oh, no, they wrote so many jokes asserting that as truth. So, so many jokes that completely stop working even a little bit if it’s kinda proven really unlikely, at best! this is gonna be so embarrassing, when it airs more than a year from then..! But wait! Maybe there’s still time to change those jokes so they won’t age like fine raw chicken at room temperature! A frantic e-mail to Spielberg! They wait for a reply and…the scripts were finalized and locked in weeks ago!? Insert weakly-terrified Buttercup meme here.

Of course, that probably didn’t actually happen and the longevity of the Trump hate-boner covered for the potential dating of the jokes. But I thought it was funny.

@Don’t
What else do you remember about it? Character names, episode titles, someone who made it, some visual that stood out? I looked into Carl2 a little and saw that it aired on Jettix. Is that right?

@WyrmSpawN
That, and the years-long avalanche of anger and loathing toward one side from the entertainment industry makes it a little too easy to think, maybe the jokes aren’t super good-natured this time. Maybe less “fun ribbing” and more “No, seriously, fuck this guy, he’s the worst, we sincerely hate him as a person and wish terrible things on him”. But since it’s a cartoon, they honk a clown horn while they say it.
Maybe not, I’m not a mind-reader, I could be wrong.

@LightningBolt
I mostly mentioned Forces because the comics bring up what happens in it a lot and I thought a newcomer reading about a war in which Sonic was temporarily ‘lost’ might be confusing. Similar for Generations, since having a second Sonic in Forces and nobody really questioning it without the context, such as it is, could be a bit strange.
But yeah, if there’s no intent to read the IDW series, those games can be skipped.

I’d say start with Sonic 2, then 3. If you want a crash course in characters, maybe try Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, Sonic the Hedgehog (2006, or “Sonic ‘06”) and Sonic Advance 3. After that, you can go to Sonic Generations and Forces. Or, if you can arrive at a movie late and still follow it, skip them and start the IDW comics. There are currently 32 issues of it (and 4 of the spin-off), so it shouldn’t take too long to get caught up. As long as you have some idea about the characters and the Chaos Emeralds, it does a pretty good job catching you up on the rest.

I’ve never read the Archie run, but I’m sure Dex Stewart’s recommendation is a good starting point. I can’t promise you’ll enjoy every game and issue. They’re just to get you going on this version of the lore.
The movie, cartoons, anime and OVA are a whole separate thing, and I’m…pretty sure the Mario and Sonic at the Olympics games aren’t canon.

@TenaciousDreamer2nd
Follow Scrooge McDuck and the triplets on an adventure? What do you think this is, DuckTales or something?

In fairness, what the episode lacked in Scrooge, it made up for in character revelations! Such as:
-There are magic super-forms and Lena has one. Nuts to you, build-up and explanations! And she got it with only one afternoon of training between “dangerously bad with magic” and “Phantom Blot is nothing before the Almighty Lena, who overpowers him and then defeats Magica while barely trying”. An OC who uses power from nowhere after minimal training to overcome two legacy villains with little effort? That’s gooooood writin’!
-So far, Phantom Blot has been defeated by Lena, Steelbeak lost to Launchpad and non-speaking cameos and Black Heron was beaten pretty easily by Webby. Isn’t this new F.O.W.L. impressive and a totally legitimate threat to our heroes that’ll lead to thrilling, suspenseful stories!?
-Lena, Webby and Violet are, in fact, friends. It’s confirmed! …again.
-The lies mrs. Beakley has been telling Webby. no, wait, we haven’t come back to that yet.

@Dirty Bit
His life did seem a bit less assured to go on than he’d probably like. Breathing heavy, needing to bleed a bug or something into his eyes.

Like I said, I’m probably just being pessimistic. Hoping this season will stick the landing and not stumble over something like that at the finish line.

Yeah, but hopefully he’s trying to do that for a good, or at least understandable reason. It’d be a real let-down if a good show like this had “I just want control because then, I’ll have control!” as its antagonist’s motivation.

Man, it sure is easy to beat up the Emperor’s Coven! Apparently, Lilith’s weakness is Hooty! Limbless, no obvious spell-casting Hooty!
Man, it sure is easy to sneak through the castle and spy on the emperor!
Man, Lilith sure did go from seemingly doing what she thought was right to super-down to murder Luz in a hurry!

Maybe I’m being a pessimistic Pete, but I really hope the emperor’s motive isn’t dumb.
But, yeah, that battle was at least on-par with the last sisters-duel.

Guys, guys! If I can be allowed to throw out a crack theory based on very little actual canon evidence?

Amity’s disdain for Luz may or may not have gone down slightly.
For real, I’m glad they’re not pulling Amity down the ‘antagonist or gtfo’ route made popular by Diamond Tiara.
Nice how the uniforms have or lack fangs so we know who’s a protagonist and who isn’t!

Not to derail the thread, but the Wolfenstein games are about killing nazis. The context is “see that nazi? shoot it”.

@Background Pony #1DE4
Also as I said, the same character but lacking nazi imagery would be fine even if sexualised and without any further context.

Yeah, I don’t doubt that you’re fine with a non-nazi, sexualized woman. But the nazi imagery is intact, making these sexualized nazis in a series of games spanning decades about killing them. Not a very effective endorsement. If you believe that using sexuality to make nazis look good is wrong and might help them, then fine. It’s just not what you said.

You didn’t say porn, you said “sexualizing”. Open tops and skin-tight leather are sexualized.
Far as I can tell, they’re not mods. If they are and I missed something, first, whoopsies. Second, they were still created to be shot at.

Sexualizing nazism shows that the author is in favor of it.

Yeah! Just look at these images

…from that nazi-loving Wolfenstein series, where the player shoots…tons of…nazis…

Going from FiM to Pony Life reminds me a lot of going from Littlest Pet Shop 2012 to the 2018 show, and not just because of the DHX to Boulder thing. It’s not that the newer shows are bad, so far. Just not as good. Pinkie Pie entering a baking competition is a safe but solid story for her. It’s fine. But is it as good as assembling the cast to face Nightmare Moon, the fallen Princess of the Night? Is it as compelling of a way to kick off a series?

Pony Life seems like the sort of show I’ll watch, but won’t wake up early to catch the episode premieres.
Also, I appreciate them giving Applejack something beyond “famlee n’ appuls”.
