The year is 2551… A year before the Equine-Covenant war would end, after the Master Chief destroys Alpha Halo, kills the prophet of Regret, and finished off the covenant at the ark…. But a lot can happen in a year. The war is reaching it’s climax. With the outer colonies burning and the inner colonies under attack, the UNSC is fighting tooth and nail to defend the inner colonies, and hoping the location of Reach and Earth remain a secret…
 
Brave Mares and Stallions give their lives to keep the civilization they know, and indeed their very species alive, against a relentless religious Force, hell bent on galactic genocide.
 
The UNSC has the Spartans… Soldiers who were kidnapped when they were 6 years old, trained for years, heavily augmented, given mjlnoir armor… And first fought the covenant when they were just 15, years old.
 
The ODST, orbital drop shock troopers, are the 26th century version of the Airborne Infantry, and just as badass and hardcore. They nearly literally jump “feet first into hell”…
 
And of course, the common marine, or the army trooper… No augmentation, no special training… Just brave Mares and Stallions, that represent the unwavering spirit of Equinity…
 
Now, the war continues… How will you contribute? Will you be fighting on the front line in a trench? Operating behind enemy lines in a prowler? Commanding a Marathon class cruiser? Or, were you taken as a child, and had an early evolution, and ready to open a can of kick ass at point blank range?

The life of a marine, while tough, was pretty simple…. Sleep, eat, make sex jokes, and fight. Blazier was stuck doing the latter on an Inner colony world known as New Constantinople.  
The location designated as Alpha base was the location of the thickest fighting.

“alright squads, the flyboys landed us about a mile west of Alpha Base, great position to smash the Covies from behind and that’s exactly what we’re doing, now to the boys in the warthogs i know your pedal foot itches for top speed but we gotta stay in formation here, our tanks will open up on them first, then you can go for ramming speed. the marine squads are to make sure our artillery can shoot without interruptions. all goes well and we’re gonna have ourselves a nice clean alien massacre with minimal losses.”

“HOO-RAH!” quite a few reply at the same time. The mechanized convoy moves out, and a few Marines are heard complaining about using Warthogs without troop carriers in the back.

Green confirmation lights light up on his HUD, the sign that the leathernecks were confirming his orders, and complying.

cresting the hill the Grizzly opens up with it’s twin cannons, the rhinos and lighter combat units following suit.

A thunderous cannonade was heard as all units opend up with whatever they had. .50 Cal machine guns, 90mm tank cannons, the 110 mms on the Grizzly, small arms fire from the Marines, and the sound of Gauss cannons are all heard.

Anti air missiles streak across the sky, turning the banshee into piles of scrap metal. But the advanced units had run into trouble… hunters… and lots of them.

The 120mm artillery turns the hunters to nothing but orange past… But the new craters stop the Warthogs. The tanks could still advance, however

(Not troop transport varients. They are too heavy. And I can assume that the ones with mounted weapons are already in a perfect firing position to defend the dismounting Marines.)
