Earth has fallen. After an invasion by the Equestrian Empire led by the Twin Empresses Daybreaker and Nightmare Moon, humanity was enslaved by pony mares employing tactics of seduction against human males, preventing soldiers from saving their countries from the encroaching menace. Starting with the fall of Beijing, nation after nation fell in rapid succession, men’s own weaknesses employed against them. Men are now nothing but breeding stock, used to produce pony foals. Women are forbidden to have children of their own without being ordered to. Women now teach and raise pony foals the way they used to raise their own children, and human reproduction is only used for the production of more breeding stock and caretakers. Even worse for the future of human excellence, the enslaved humans are brainwashed into being happy with their pathetic situation. it’s over.
…Or maybe not. During the campaign, the fall of Washington, D.C. saw a burst of sudden defiance. The report of “Washington, D.C. submits to Equestrian Empire, USA surrenders” was followed almost immediately by “Church of Jesus Christ of latter-Day Saints defies American surrender, seizes Great Basin, executes ‘Protocol Emmet’, proclaims restoration of ‘Theodemocratic Republic of Deseret’.” Soon, more statements of defiance followed: “Scotland rejects London surrender, invites House of Dunkeld to assume throne of Scotland, proclaims ‘Kingdom of Scotland’,” “Alexander Dunkeld crowned as Alexander IV Dunkeld, ‘King of Scots’”, “Wales rejects London Surrender, proclaims ‘Principality of Wales’”, “Claimant to House Pendragon crowned as King Arthwyn II Pendragon of Wales. Wales moves capital to Caerlon, constructs ‘New Camelot’, proclaims ‘Kingdom of Wales’”, “Montgomery, Alabama: Virginia, Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, southern Arizona and southern New Mexico defy surrender of Washington, sign new Confederate Constitution, new Confederate Arizona and New Mexico proclaim State of Arizona in region. Eventually, all resisting nations signed a pact of cooperation, forming the “Anti-Equestrian Alliance”. But minutes later, the report was that the Alliance had been destroyed, all areas of the alliance reduced to mere wasteland.
The human condition was terrible under the Equestrian Empire. Men were nothing but breeding stock, their own carnal weaknesses employed against them to render the armies useless. Pony magic had ensured that human males breeding with pony mares always resulted in foals. Women weren’t allowed to have children except to create the next generation of breeding stock, and they were forced to care for, nurse, and teach pony foals, while humans had been reduced to mere slaves.
One billion humans had escaped the horrors, but they were also out of the picture for quite a while. In the Ark II Ultra-Bunker, designed to withstand a direct hit from an extinction event asteroid without a scratch, they waited, underground, presuming they’d need eons to grow numerous enough to take back the surface.
But humans were already being indoctrinated on the surface. To be a slave was wonderful. You were cared for, were free from need and want… what point was there but to blissfully submit?
To some ponies, this was horrible. Within a few months, slaves were vanishing, either stolen, or bought and never seen anywhere again.
This was by design. Like the Underground Railroad of old, the Freedom Express had formed to combat human slavery. Led by the enigmatic Railmaster (or “RM”), they were hard to track by the Empire, with the RM seemingly able to hop around the globe in an instant, personally bringing agents under suspicion to one of multiple HQs across the globe for an interview, intimidating all into keeping quiet about the true nature of the RM.
And in the wastelands, where defiance had been crushed brutally… The lands were still fertile, still populated, and still defiant. Their existence covered up by propaganda to ensure enslaved humans didn’t get any ideas.
The stage has been set. Four factions exist, with the fate of humanity’s future hanging in the balance. Who will you join? The Empire, to keep mankind subdued in eternal idiotic bliss? The Freedom Express, to liberate man from their masters and instill love of freedom in them once more? The Remnants, hiding in Ark II, training generation after generation, in the hopes of creating a super army to take back the surface? Or the Alliance, still fighting strong, day and night, to ensure the safety of your friends, family, and people, and in the hopes to some day take the offensive, and smash the invaders to pieces? The choice is yours.
(Please list your character by name, race (human, pony, dragon, griffon, etc.), tribe (for ponies), gender (male and female only, please. It’s far simpler. Want to be neither? Be a genderless sapient robot. I’ll allow those to an extent.), faction, place of origin (if from Earth, list the new nation, not the defunct one yours was born out of, except in the event of living in the subdued lands, in which case, add “former” to the front of your nation of origin), abilities, history, and misc. stuff. If you feel your region would have enough defiance to fight back, you may list the name of the former or concept nation that has been restored, then explain why they stood up, and further explain their government, like in this document. (California is out of the question, however. Much of California was seized by Deseret, and if the rest fought back, this would require the formation of Cascadia and the parts of California north and west of the Sierra Nevada being allowed into Cascadia.)
