After several minutes of messing with the lock, it finally opens
 
“About time!”
 
He opens the chest. Inside, he finds some gold, a key and another map. He also finds two weapons left in the chest, a mace and a sword
 
“I’ll just leave the weapons in here for now, no need to be heavily armed when you can’t seem to find life around these parts…”
 
He takes the gold, key and both maps then leaves the room
 
Shouts into the other tunnel “Anything in there?”

A shout comes back. “I ain’t seen anything yet! Just tunnel.” He was looking around with his low-light vision.

Shouts into the tunnel “Give me a shout if you do find anything!”

OOC: I figured you would’ve described what happened in your part of the tunnel and then, either, come back to the center to tell Astral or shout for him to come meet you.

“There’s a room down here! Looks like a living room!” He trots on back. “Shall we head down the center tunnel? I didn’t see much in there.”

“Hold up! A living room? On The Moon?”
 
Shakes his head “This is getting more weird by the minute…”

“I agree. I found a bunch of pieces of furniture carved from the stone of the moon…and you?”

“Found a treasure chest in mine. Managed to get it unlocked and found some gold, a key, and a map. There’s also some weapons, specifically a sword and a mace, in there too but, considering we haven’t seen any other form of life besides us, I didn’t bring them along”
 
He checks the two pieces of paper “Seems one of them is a just a map with a line that does a loop and has an X on it but no picture to relay the location. The other looks like a diagram of The Moon. Still, can’t seem to find whatever connects these two. Maybe it’s in this last tunnel?”

Astral heads into the third tunnel by himself first to check if the coast is clear. When he exits the other side of the tunnel, he comes across an observatory. He looks left and sees a shelf, carved out of the moon, and it’s full of books. Looking to his right, he sees a pair of binoculars and a bed next to a window
 
“An observatory? ON THE MO- ok, that’s been said way too many times now. I shouldn’t be surprised anymore…”

The young bat pony trots up next to him. “This is incredible…”

“Incredible and strange. Why did the Princesses not inform us about this moonbase? I mean it’s not like they’re hiding top secret information, the public would absolutely love this idea…”

“I agree, unless there was something up here that shouldn’t be…or elsewhere, for that matter.”

Astral looks through the pair of binoculars “Hmm, not seeing anything yet”
 
He looks left & right. When he looks left, he sees nothing. When he looks right, he sees several craters. One of them is 3 miles wide. He tries zooming into the center of that crater but it gets blurry. He does see something glowing brightly at the center, but thanks to the blur, he can’t make out the shape
 
“There’s…something there but I can’t make it out…”

Astral then checks the books
 
“Most of these are empty…like they were going to be written but then something happened”
 
He sees a book that wasn’t blank
 
“What’s this?”
 
He opens the book up. It’s a guide on the locations of the moon
 
“Morning, check this out! It seems this isn’t the only moonbase”
 
He looks through the pages
 
“Looks like there’s several more at certain locations. According to this, we’re at the southern moonbase because it’s the only one to have a bed in the observatory…for some reason?”
 
He continues to look
 
“There’s one at the very north of our position. Some kind of gravity generator located there?”
 
Looks to Morning

“Odd…shall we investigate…?”

“We will…but first, we need to check one of the craters from outside. I spotted something glowing inside one of them but couldn’t make out an outline of what it actually is?”
 
Astral gets up and heads out the door
 
“We’ll need to mark our position so we don’t get lost out there…”
 
Looks back to the books
 
“Here’s an idea: Lets use the empty books as markers. Since there’s no wind on The Moon, they’re not gonna blow away when we walk off”

He nods. “Sounds like a plan.” He grabs a load of wordless books and tucks them under his wings.

They walk out of the cavern and back out onto the moon surface
 
“Ok, lets place an empty book here”
 
Astral puts it down right in front of the entrance
 
“At least we got a place to sleep for the night if need be”
 
They then take a left from the cavern and head on over to the craters
 
Drops another book “I hope they realise several ponies have gone missing and try to find us. Who knows, maybe The Heroes of Equestria might come save us?”

“It’s just us, maybe a couple others…I really doubt it. And, uh…that’ll be for you to sleep. I might take a nap though.”

“I doubt it’s just us on The Moon, there HAS to be others. I’m sure we can find something for you to sleep on”

“It’ll be ok. If there are others, I bet we’ll find them.”

(Damn, I would’ve loved to see where this would’ve ended up :( )
