While I don’t think having cute tags for every single character is important or mandatory, I do think that the shipping tags and parent tags are important for people who are looking up specific threads or Next Gen OCs.

I think the “betes” tags are kind of dumb odd (& maybe out of place feeling) & could be easily be replaced with “cute [character]” or similar.
 
I especially dislike the ones that don’t even try to sound even a little like they’re punning on diabetes.

It’s just a dumb meme in general; I think the busty whatsernuts tags are the paradigm to follow, just call them all cute whosits and that way it’s standardized without involving insulin production.

I believe if we were to do that is best to keep the pun tags as the main ones and the simplified ones as aliases.  
Which is what they should’ve done with the titty ones, but I digress.

I disagree. Not because I dislike puns, but because most of the “betes” tags weren’t good puns/plays on words & a fair number were just portmanteaus for the sake of shoving together a character name & diabetes together rather than for any sort of clever reason.

Problem is, it’s somewhat hard to come up with puns for certain characters (especially characters with short names).

Should purple alicorn (fo:e) actually be “oc:purple alicorn (fo:e)”? I don’t know if it’s actually that character’s name.
 
It was created a month ago by one mass-tagging user.

My understanding (such as it is – I still have to read FO:E) is that the story’s alicorns are the equivalent of super mutants in the Fallout games – regular ponies mutated by the main villain to be a combination of super soldiers and a new race that will inherit the post-apocalyptic world. They come in three colors – purple, blue and green – each with the ability to use a basic spell determined by their color. As such, “purple alicorn” is technically a species tag, rather than a character tag. I believe.
 
On a related note, though. The blue alicorns’ tag appears to be blue alicorn(fo:e), without a space, due presumably to a typo. Should it be corrected case-by-case or aliased into blue alicorn (fo:e)?
 
Oh, and whatever it ends up being, I feel that the three tags should probably imply alicorn and fallout: equestria, while we’re at it.

I found the green and blue alicorn tags, but the latter seems to be unused.

Oh this 1000 hours thing got quite some replies and mentioned subjectiveness at some point.  
At the same time there is this discussion about cute tags, which is basically the same topic about subjectiveness.
 
In general, I personally would invalidate all highly subjective tags.  
Cute, creepy, good, bad, diabetes, adorable, nightmare fuel, attractive, cringe, casual, cruel, gross, erotic, hot, cool, pretty, kinky, nice, ugly, beautiful, sexy, slutty, and so on.
 
I swear, I saw already “cute” tagged posts which were very “creepy” to me.  
On the other hand, talking about cute animated pastel horses, probably 80% of pics would earn the “cute” tag.
 
(Let alone that I never got how people take diabetes as a nice thing.)

These tags have been around for years I really don’t see any logic in throwing them away because some people find them subjective.

There’s no “some people” about it; those tags are, objectively, subjective.

I’ve heard nobody complain about these tags except you OneOverTwo and Moon Flower so there’s definitely a some people about this and you’re use of “subjective” is just a version of “I don’t like this” while you know this you are arguing subjectivity over subjectivity what my not be “Cute, creepy, good, bad, diabetes, adorable, nightmare fuel, attractive, cringe, casual, cruel, gross, erotic, hot, cool, pretty, kinky, nice, ugly, beautiful, sexy, slutty” to you may be to other people.

Nah, bruh, ain’t got nothin’ to do with liking or disliking them– those words embody concepts that are inherently subjective, and which of them apply to an image and to what degree changes from viewer to viewer.

They are pretty subjective tho, and a lot of staff find a lot of those tags to be nuisances. Unfortunately, just because some people don’t see an issue with something, doesn’t mean it isn’t an issue. There’s been dozens of subjective tags people have abused and spammed over the years to the point where the tags got destroyed as a result. And to top that off, a lot of people who spend all their time tagging subjective tags that help no one instead of useful objective tags that are practical.
 
I’m not here to give a ‘fuck you’ to people’s filters or watch lists, but if anyone relies on tags like ‘1000 hours in mspaint’ to hide things, or tags like ‘sexy celestia’ to watch images, it’s not very practical and can lead to tons of missing out from both sides.
 
If this whole booru got off it’s damm obsession with cute and breast tags for every single character ever and quit using so many variations of ‘sexy’ and ‘i deem this oc as bad’ and used all that time to tag properly, things would be so much easier for everyone.
 
But why would anyone tag ‘solo female’ or even just ‘female’ at all when they can tag ‘stupid sexy nightmare moon’ instead. Who cares about filters or anyone else? Just the fact that the tagger is pleased that they decided to throw their opinion into the tags instead of being useful.
 
Yeah, a bit of an anger fueled rant. Not towards you, mind, just in general.

I never said that. While they are ultimately not very useful imo, they’re also at least not abused like a lot of other subjective tags.
