For both “hoof feet” and “short pastern”, the lowest section of the leg is shorter than most unguligrade anthro, about the length of a human foot. However, “short pastern” looks more as if they’re standing on their toes, whereas “hoof feet” is like a flat foot but with a hoof instead of toes at the end. I haven’t seen the “short pastern” tag before now though, so this is just a guess.
