It’s spoilery, but people are already tagging images with both tags so that’s already a spoiler that’s out in the open and it’s adding clutter with the tags to have two tags referring to the same character. That both are the same character is also being freely mentioned on the site without spoiler tags and it is a very minor spoiler that’s only a minor gag in the movie.

Then don’t tag the other tag, simple. Only tag it when it’s mentioned in the image.

I’m not the one doing it, either tagging it in the first place or going through to remove the tag when it’s there. Pretty much every image I’ve seen where it’s tagged doesn’t mention that they’re the same character in the image. Some people are tagging both names which technically isn’t incorrect and why it should be aliased.
 
This really isn’t a big deal. It’s easier to alias than it is to go through 200+ images to remove the fizzlepop berrytwist tag because some people don’t want a ridiculously minor spoiler. It’s basically a one off gag that has no effect on the plot.

What’s the policy on when it’s no longer considered a “spoiler”, that is how long the movie has been out, and can be aliased? I still don’t like the tag clutter and thought the site was against such a thing which is the entire point of aliasing.

Dude, some characters have multiple names on every image. I’d be more concerned about the dozens of ‘sexy’ tags cluttering images versus one alt name.

It would take less than a minute to remove the tag from all of the images. But it doesn’t really need to be removed.  
Right now we’re just letting the tag exist, but not connecting it directly to the character. In time, it will be aliased/implied. But right now it’s just a tag.

On that point I don’t understand why tags like dj pon-3 and vinyl scratch aren’t aliased to each other when they’re the same character.
 
Also I have to question the logic of not aliasing for spoiler reasons when both tags are directly connected to and would fall under the tag: spoiler: my little pony movie which people could simply filter if they didn’t want that kind of spoiler.

Personally I remember being rather annoyed at getting that spoiled for me, I think I would’ve probably appreciated the joke more if it wasn’t spoiled for me beforehand.

As long as it’s going to be aliased at some point I have no problem with it, but I still kind of question the reason for not aliasing now when we have a spoiler tag for the movie that people could filter if they want to avoid spoilers of that nature. I mean at this point anything tagged with her is also going to be tagged for the movie so it should be easy to avoid spoilers via tags or images on the site.

Isn’t Doctor Horse his official name by way of merchandise, though? Specifically the CCG. That’s “Doctor” whereas the one in S07E20 is “Dr.”, if you need a finer line for it.
 
Not that it has any real bearing, but the name in A Health of Information feels like an error where someone on the art team didn’t realise that “Doctor Horse” was a preexisting character. Or maybe they decided to swap him out, but forgot to change the script. Something for Jim’s next Twitter Q&A, maybe.

Going to bring it up here since IRC discussion was nonexistent.
 
I don’t believe the royal guard and night guard and crystal guard should be character tags, as those are professions/organizations and not specific, unique personalities. Indeed, a significant portion (maybe even the majority) of the pics under the tag are OCs.
 
Some guards are named, like Spearhead,, Flash Sentry, and Nocturn. They obviously should be blue, but if we are broadening what a character tag means, then there are many other groups from the franchise which would qualify as well, such as wonderbolts, royal legion, cattle rustlers, sombra soldier, S.M.I.L.E., the henchmen, and more. You could even argue that tags like vendor or salespony would fall under the same umbrella.
 
Personally, I feel the category should be reserved for unique named characters.

I agree with you on that, considering it doesn’t really make sense for professions and the like to get character tags.

Might have slipped under the rader here but Dr. Caballeron should be aliased into Doctor Caballeron.

buttons needs to have the character color removed (because there’s a buttons (g1) tag that’s colored already) and also be aliased with button
