Older Gen Pony tag fixing (G*)

Locket seems to be majoritarily used for actual lockets instead of the pony and needs a disambiguation.

Time to sort those G1-era comic uploads out! I think it’s probably reasonable to give them a new-fangled comic: prefix.

Not sure what to do with the G2 and G3 comics. They can’t be part of the late 80s/early 90s Egmont UK runs though.

We now need a disambiguation for Somnambula due to the pony in the idw comic, the pony from g1 and the witch from g1 as well.

Is it time to sort out Lickety Split yet? Everything seems to be using the lickety split tag, but there’s 3 distinct gens and a baby pony at least.
 
G1 Lickety Split (5 ice creams)  
G1 Baby Lickety Split (3 ice creams)  
G3 Lickity Split (1 ice cream, note spelling)  
G4 Lickety Split (1 ice cream, check spelling)

G1 adult should be Lickety Split, G1 baby should be Baby Lickety Split, G3 should be spelled like Lickity Split, and G4 should be, uhh, idk, I assume he has less images than the G1 pony anyway.

Maybe the little brown G4 colt is lickety split (g4) then?
 
The spelling differences mean it’s gonna need some really clear tags and aliases, or (better) some tag dictionary love. Care to lay down some lore?

Spelling differences are a pain with tags, I agree, I just feel like accuracy is the best option. That being said, adding an extra (g3) would hurt no one and aliasing both variants of names into all of them would probably help.
 
I’ll add the extra names later if others agree and no one else does it first as I am so very tired now.

There’s also a little sorting needed for both Sunny Daze and Peachy Pie for their g3 and g4 selves.

medley now implies and is implied by spring melody and sprinkle medley. Since the latter two are G4 fan namings, surely the G1 name is more legit? G1 character should probably get naming rights, and the tag dictionary entry will need fixing since it features the G4 character.
 
There does not appear to be a medley (g1) tag right now (any more?), except for the one I just added in confusion.

I don’t know where Spring medley came from as the official toy name of that BG pony is Sprinkle Medley.

There doesn’t seem to be a “medley (g1)” tag. I don’t think there ever was one: older posts have just “medley” and neither of the implied two ponies.

Any preference for the direction? Generation-suffixed could be the way to go on this to help disambiguate it from soda or its relatives.

BTW, I intend to do a mass tag edit later this weekend to help resolve the problem with G1 Medley and G4 Spring Melody both using the medley tag. G1 Medley will move to medley (g1) for a bit until somebody with admin powers can fix the bad implications.

In progress: subsetting “medley” into “medley” (for the G4 fan name) and “medley (g1)” for the official name of the G1 pony Medley. With manual checking.

Medley sorted out, with Zeb’s tag admin help! The medley tag is now the G1 pone, and the G4 background pony has her own tags.

Good question. G1 Minty for sure needs a tag, but I don’t know if the latter two do or not.

Probably best not (Coconut Cream and Toola Roola don’t, despite having a G4 cameo in the show itself). I think the most natural split is like this:

I can’t find any media appearances that aren’t direct ads for her toy, even in the comics. Her toy has loads of international variants in different colours. Pictured pony is the US one.

G3’s Minty appeared in the animated shorts, and is pretty popular. She’s clearly a recycled name, but not a recycled look. The G4 pony has only appeared in toys (Build-a-Bear, blind bag, an unreleased Taobao brushable, and the Midnight in Canterlot brushable). She is pretty much identical to the popular G3 pony, so let’s keep the unsuffixed tag for both of them for now (until Minty gets a cameo with a completely different personality or something).

God I really want a Minty G4 brushable, but I have never gotten it.
