As far as I’m aware, Gagarin was indeed the very first man to exit the Earth’s upper atmosphere into free space. Sadly, he died only 7 years later during a plane crash in a MiG-15 he was piloting.

The Adventure Continues
[So things are going on and everything’s flipping crazy; even the ship’s computer is going bananas about how off-the-wall things are getting. I’m afraid that I’m losing control of things. Medi’s afraid that pony continuity is ending. And heck, the computer’s afraid that I’m running out of Star Trek jokes to make!]
Me: “You two know I love you, right?”
“EEEEEEEE, why even ask that?”
[Medi lands on the tip of my finger and addresses my eyes with a look that is both painful and earnest]
Computer: “YES, CAPTAIN, WHY INDEED WOULD YOU ASK SUCH A THING? WHILE CONCEPTS SUCH AS LOVE ARE BEYOND MY PROGRAMMING, THE IDEA OF IT, AS SUCH, DIRECTED AT ME BY MY COMMANDING OFFICER IS STILL WITHIN MY REALM OF UNDERSTANDING. TO POINT, YOU VALUE MY INPUT AND MY CONTINUED EXISTENCE. AND FOR THAT, CAPTAIN, I AM THANKFUL.”
Me: [Severely thankful for the computer’s logic] “Yes… basically. But what I’m saying goes a bit beyond all of that.”
“EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, it’s not as simple as that! We’re dangerously close to dying here! Pony canon, at least G4, is ending! Or, worse yet, it’s already ended! We might be ready to take the big BLAMO to the face!”
Me: [Um, I mean] “I wouldn’t have used those words, but yeah… sure?”
Computer: [Alarm sirens start sounding] “CAPTAIN, IT WOULD APPEAR THAT WE ARE CLOSE TO ENTERING DISCONTINUITY.”
[I mean, yeah, we’re all really scared at this point]
“Master?”
Me: [Nervously] “Uh… yeah?”
“Maybe… that’s, I dunno… not so bad?”
Me: [Bewildered] “D’uhhhhhh, what?”
[Medi resumes her place on the bridge of my nose, that way she can stare straight into my eyes]
“Master, I’m not afraid to die.”
[I’m blown away]
“And this is why.”

“Master, maybe… just maybe… once the old canon goes…”
[Medi chokes up… and I do too]
“Maybe we’ll still be here?”
Me: [Disbelieving] “But how?”
[Medi crawls down from my face and comes down to my shoulder, shivering as she comes to her conclusion]
[But she is brave]
“Master, we must let them try. W-we must let them try to end us. And we must be strong. So strong that they cannot. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!”
Me: [Terrified] “No, Medi, don’t~

Thanksgiving is nearly here, (for those Communists, that’s a Capitalist holiday where celebrants generally give thanks for the things they have before they go out the next day and nearly kill each other for a cheap TV…)
I just thought I’d try to return to the spirit of the holiday and say:
I am thankful for this silly little blog devoted to the cutest of Batponies. Also for Joe Rasagal, Comunist Starlight, BigBuggyBastage, and Feather Trap. You were all a great deal of fun and amusement during some low spots for me. I’m grateful for you all, and I hope you are all well and have a wonderful season surrounded by those you love.

- ASCII-Code.com, a site I think I’ve used since EE college.
Find the character you want, either manually or CTRL+F, then look at the decimal (DEC) code. You’ll need a FOUR-character input string, adding zeroes onto the front to take up any ‘missing’ of the four. For example, let’s say you want the per-mille symbol, ‰, whose code is 137. You need four characters for input, so it’d become ‘0137’. Simply hold down the ALT key, then type 0137, and then let go: your symbol should appear.
- The Unicode charts – this is essentially a ‘standardized’ set of input characters and codes, created by an international “non-profit” consortium. Every time you see new emoji or goofy characters, blame these guys. lol jk But seriously, although it’s VERY interesting from a sociological & human-vs-technology point-of-view, it can be extremely time-consuming to comb though these charts, unless you know exactly what you’re looking for, OR you have extraordinarily good search & organization skills.
- Just plain old
GoogleDuckDuckGo. Type in whatever you want, click on one of the results, and simply copy-paste from a line of plaintext at the page you land on. This is probably the fastest way to do it, unless you need a truly unique or obscure symbol.
