He can alter reality on a whim in the most intricate ways, skywriting with a bunch of teleported rocks and letting them fall down is the easiest shit in the world. He’s a showman by heart, even if his audience is the poor people in reality. And, its not like he has a lack of earth, its kind of plentiful.
Lets consider an even more blunt approach. Chrysalis looks up at the large boulder threatening to rain rocky death on them, and in bold letters on the bottom of the boulder it says “FLUTTERSHY. NOW!” Easily doable for Discord, and scarier. The only reason the changelings were able to read Discord so well is because he went powerless in their hive where all of them could sense his emotional weaknesses by instinct. Discord spends his home time in a chaos dimension outside Chrysalis’ reach.
She does NOT want Discord’s ire, villains don’t trust other villains to play nice. Heck, pony on changeling violence wasn’t even a bad thing in S2, so you can’t even argue that knocking a few of them out as an example wasn’t an option from a television perspective.
The participation trophy is one thing, but actually going into a place powerless and mortal is another thing entirely. Obviously he had enough motivation for at least one day to do basically anything.
A magic nullifying bubble is NOT proper protection against someone who can alter the reality of everything around it.
Lets just accept, Dr. Derp-sano, that basically EVERYONE was dumbed down and nerfed for this finale.
Okay here is what Discord would do, he would teleport up into space, since he is a spirit he does not need to breath so he can look down over the Badlands where the Changeling Hive is at, he will then summon a large space rock just big enough to damage the Hive or even destroy the Changeling Throne and drop it down onto the Hive from Space.

Yes, but then he has to aim them and find them (magical cojnstructs don’t last in there, after all,) and make sure the velocity isn’t so high that he does collateral damage and all the timing precision and ugggghhhh…
He’ll happily go to war for Fluttershy, but it’ll take more than that for him to actually exert effort.

Are you saying Discord, a being of infinite creativity, can’t drop a set of boulders above the barrier and into it in their front lawn to spell (FLUTTERSHY. NOW!)?
Heck I’m pretty sure even a Discord-type loud speaker would work so long as its innocuous.

I have 2 theories, in my headcanon, of the reason that Discord does not cure ponies of wounds and medical problems.
One is that Discord can’t heal people because it would bring order, the opposite of what he exists, chaos.
The other is that he can, but he decides not to do it because of the long-term consequences. If he starts curing people, what would he continue later? Directly eliminate the diseases, ignorance, hatred and even death ?. The natural order of things would be altered in a way that terrifies even him.
