Jet can have redeeming qualities and still be a clingy ex who wants to have his perfect little family regardless of if his ‘wife’ wants to be that. Of course he cares about Apogee because she fits right into that perfect picture of a family, and he worries about Delta because he can’t have her be part of that if she destroys herself. That doesn’t give him the right to butt into his ex’s life and force her into coming back to him.

Just because you express dislike doesn’t mean you hate somebody. Hate is a REALLY strong mixture of emotions. Hate is not acknowledging someone’s existence when you two have shared four years together. Hate is actively doing something that benefits only you and not someone else, and knowing it. Hate is looking someone in the eyes as they’re in pain and needing assistance, smirking, and walking away. Hate is the cocktail of emotions that makes someone a little worried when they witness it. It’s profound and serious.

And I could argue that you’ve formed a bias against him based on the same information, except that the information we know favor my answer. Apogee is living with him and is shown to be happy with this arrangement. She doesn’t resent him for dropping her at Delta’s to go do whatever he does. You can tell a lot about a person based upon how others respond to them, and at the very least Apogee likes her dad.
You can argue he’s brainwashed her, like Delta thinks, but Delta is a very unstable person. And we have nothing but Delta’s bitter anger and (apparently) fond memories to judge.
Now stop stroking yourself off. Delta isn’t any more real than Jet, and demonizing Jet to argue that a messed up alcoholic with a drug problem is right won’t make her your prostitute.
