Pretty sure this is Angel (and Nick) just being an epic troll, which of course I appreciate.
 
As for Discoshy, I love it, but then again, I love damn near all ships. One of the things that make this show so great is how all the characters’ personalities play off so well with each other, which makes it hard to find a pairing that ISN’T interesting. If it’s fitting, it’s endearing, and if it clashes, it’s funny.

And of course Spike was just joking in Break up Breakdown and Discord really just care about the tea, and Angel bunny was just being snarky, he coudn’t possibly say all facts about Fluttershy. Sure she is shy, and she does talk with animals…but marry Discord??? Now this must be a mistake because there were never any Discoshy shipping teases before!

That and the way Angel said it, he/she sounds more like a younger brother teasing/mocking his sister about her friend who is a boy.

I know some shippers are going to eat this up but it’s honestly more of saying as a mockery. Similar to saying, “I’m Fluttershy. I spend so much time with Discord I might as well marry him.”
 
But of course, shippers will take all the fuel they can get.

It took me a solid second to process what fluttershy (angel bunny) said and I squealed. Give me all that sweet fluttercord, I thank the shipping gods.

It doesn’t matter to me whenever it is a joke or serious story and lore writing. In the end any average viewer will conclude that Fluttershy do want to marry Discord which will make people treat this ship as canon even if they won’t go any further in S9. It will also secure references in new comics and manga. Maybe even in G5. Either way this wasn’t the first time and Discoshy meme got big enough for people to recognize it as successful version of Sparity.

I honestly think that it’s just the writers giving fans what they want and shipteasing Fluttercord. It seemed a lot more like that than an actual attempt to pair them. I sincerely hope that it doesn’t get taken any further than this.

People pick and choose what they like and dislike about the series, and find all sorts of reasons to hate the last couple seasons. Better to let them rant on about things that have been happening forever but they act like it’s new for some reason.

Conisdering that Confalone ship them, read their IDW comics and already made similar ship tease in Break up Breakdown, I would say this was meant to indicate that Angel know Fluttershys secret that she told him or he found out from her discussion with other animals. It is possible to interpret it as nothing happened, but it will also look more like denying an obvious implication. Especially for people who ship different ships. Most neutral to that ship bronies also see it, and i think most reaction videos will notice that.

Given how this is Angel Bunny in Fluttershy’s body, I don’t take this as Fluttershy wanting to marry Discord as an actual fact.
 
Maybe he thinks they like each other that way but is actually in the wrong. Maybe he was saying that to mock them (which I wouldn’t put it behind him since Angel is honestly a mean little rabbit).
 
I’m sorry but I just don’t see this as anything more than another shipping hint since Fluttershy herself isn’t saying this.

I wish CheesePie also had those kind of semi confirmation in their episode. but right now i would say Pinkie and Cheese are on FlutterCord level of Season 5 where they are just close as friends who meet from time to time. We need another season to give CheesePie romantic episodes.

That’s very different, because all the Cheesepie fuel was just that, shipping fuel. It wasn’t flat-out crush confirmation. There’s shipping fuel between every character in the show and every other character in the show, and the difference is that saying “I wanna marry Discord” CANNOT be applied in a purely platonic friendship, whethers the stuff with Pinkie and Cheese can. It’s nothing more than harmless shipping fuel. This wasn’t.

They’ve honestly been pandering to fans and making things “fanfick-y” since season 2. That’s when the show started throwing in more jokes and references that only the adult audience would understand and they threw an unnecessary cameo of Derpy in an Applejack focused episode (which caused a ton of controversy).
 
Also, I honestly think that no episode can ever top episode 100 in the “fanfic-like” department. That episode is the epitome of fan pandering. If you show it to a casual fan, they will likely have not much idea to what’s going on since they don’t really have much connection to the background characters. If you were to show that episode to a non-fan, I bet you they might think those background ponies are the main characters. They’re not. Only in fanfiction.

Debatable, sure, but I think the show has definitely started to seem more fanfiction-y since Season 8 started, and even more so in Season 9.
