I’m with you on this being more than a few years ahead. They’ve all got visible signs of aging, like wrinkles under the eyes and the aforementioned gray lock in the Rare hair there. They’re at least the ages their parents are in the show’s present day.

Really? What episodes give that impression?
And I always considered it useless to try and put ages on them. They act with varying levels of maturity, from being more like teenagers on a sleepover in one episode to running off sobbing over the kind of insult that’d never affect an adult that way in another… to running business and traveling the country solo, or having crazy dangerous jobs like working with deadly animals the way Flutters does… also, their world works so differently that it’s not like you hit 16 and can drive, or 18 and can drink, etc. We also don’t know how long their days or years are.

You hit the nail right on the head, my friend. When that book closed and I truly realized it was over, I could help but be completely overcome by all the emotions this show has ever made me feel. It’s so hard; I feel like I have to say goodbye to a part of myself. I’m glad I’m not feeling it alone though. That really helps.
And they all grew up together in Equestria.
Generation upon generation, each passing on to the next, the tales of their ancestors’ adventures together long ago.

Well, I would not say, I liked some points. For example, we all grow up, friends diverge at work, about their business, each with its own life path. And Twilight and her friends agreed to meet once a month when they are free from their affairs, it seemed to me very sad and in life this is also possible. Sunburst and Starlight I like this couple, they are still together, I liked it.
This is the only thing I liked about the 26 series, but it is perceived by me as an addition to the series, and not an official sequel.
