This. In retrospect, half the reason I was unimpressed by Princess Spike was because it came right after Slice of Life, an episode I’m still hyped up over.
 
The other half was because it just didn’t have much going for it, but still.

Oh, I won’t deny that a lot of the things that happened in this story had nothing to do with Spike’s behavior. I didn’t completely hate the episode either, I liked Twilight’s parts a lot. In the end all critique is going to be subjective to some degree. It’s just something that should be paid attention to.

I watch for free, too. I avoid iTunes and am not a fan of paid streaming. I support by buying the DVDs as they come out.

Really, S4 actually had a lot more focus on building Spike’s character, so it’s not impossible that the staff had already picked up on past complaints about Spike and his role. This episode’s problems constitute an exception to the trend of making Spike stronger and self-sufficient, and even then there’s the fact that Spike actually did a lot of good helping Twilight with so much ridiculously against him (despite not getting much credit for it).

Still, I’d like to think the staff take negative responses into account rather than just recommending people ignore the stuff they dislike. It’s true that you can’t listen to everything- if someone’s still saying to undo Twilicorn, they’re beyond help- but when an episode first airs, it’s always a good idea to check out what kind of feedback it’s produced and see what can be learned.
 
I hear there was more of an agreement reached later on, though, which is good to see. It’s a shame what was done to get it.

I don’t know about you, but I watch the show for free (or at least pay another company for the option to), and I’m sure thousands of others do too.

The staff are probably laughing at the foolishness themselves.
 
Also, there’s like no point in shitting on Price about this. Andy Price’s comic art has been consistently great regardless of story-related problems. I was a fan of him back when people just learned who he was during BronyCon 2013. Get on my level.

I’m not trying to paint Jim as the villain and I don’t expect him to feel guilty for anything, I just find the forced cheerfulness and implied “get over it” message a little condescending. I think it would have been better to acknowledge the complaint, maybe give a standard polite apology with no promises attached, and move on.
 
Do you have to imply that I’m irrational and have entitlement issues just because I don’t like something Jim said? That was unnecessary.

Hopefully this shit doesn’t persist. It’s just one episode, people feel like it’s the entire series. I understand criticisms are essential, but this is overblown I have admit.
