You talk about how irritating it is to see people reject your opinion as stupid, yet I have never experienced anything but people who have met my opinions with that same treatment. I don’t want this show to be dark and mature? I complain too much and I just need to like it or stop being a fan. I like Rarity? Well, 90% of this fandom hates her and it’s fucking exhausting to have you lot constantly step all over me because of something as superficial as that.
 
I admit I let my own irritation with the subject cloud my judgement of your opinion and I’m wrong for doing that, but I really doubt that you’d feel any differently had your experience with me just now been your entire experience with this fandom when it comes to sharing your thoughts.

I tend to see the “STOP LIKING WHAT I DON’T LIKE!” more often, but both sides of the spectrum occur in this fandom. So kudos to you too for not yelling at the people who liked it.

Who said I liked Luna? I prefer Celestia and even Cadance over her though I don’t dislike her either so I do like her but she’s not my favorite princess, what does that have anything to do with this anyway?

I knew what the end result was going to be from the beginning but that’s not why I didn’t like it I mean this wouldn’t the first time the show has done that no I didn’t like it because there was so little going on in between even for a spice of life episode it was just bland the jokes made me cringe like the ducks in a row joke ugh then we had the black and white and monologing that personally killed it for me.
 
I liked a few things about it as mentioned but as a whole yeah no thanks.
 
And gods forbid someone might not like one episode the whole fandom is crap if someone has a different opinion than someone else as I already said this is the only episode of the season I didn’t like.

The guy had his priorities. To make the mystery less obvious there would have to be more characters involved and something else would have to be cut. That would hurt the Noir monologues, or the scene with Sassy where Rarity’s eye for detail and sweet-talking skills are presented.

I was the same way. While the conclusion was very obvious, it didn’t distract me from the journey and cool scenes with Rarity and Dash.

That’s what I liked about the episode myself, actually - the adventure getting there. It explored a neglected dynamic between RD and Rarity, it had an interesting and creative setting, and a lot of nice humor.
 
Of course the culprit was predictable - he was the only new character given any kind of notice. It doesn’t feel like solving the mystery ourselves was the point of the episode, though, as much as RD and Rarity’s journey together to solve the mystery themselves. You people praise this show for breaking norms and whatnot, yet get angry when it deviates from the traditional mystery episode by focusing on the adventure leading up to solving the mystery as opposed to the mystery itself. Jeez, guys. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this fandom is worse than the Sonic fandom about not knowing what it wants.
 
I dig it. It was the first episode I felt that I could actually have fun with this season and I hope to see more episodes take this approach, and I really hope for more RD/Rarity episodes in the future.

But a conclusion being predictable when the journey there is really great? I really can’t give a fuck. Especially when Rarity and Dash are perfectly in character and in top form and being hilarious together.

Superficial as fuck. Not that I expect anything different from this absolute joke of a fandom, of course. Fluttershy episodes are more routine than an episode of Phineas and Ferb. Fluttershy is too shy to do something, tries to overcome her shyness, overcomes her shyness, goes right back to being shy, rendering the entire episode pointless.
 
If we’re going to bitch about Spike episodes doing the same thing over and over, then we either bitch about Fluttershy episodes being the same thing over and over or just admit that we’re not providing a fair analysis of the episode because of the character attached to the episode.
 
This fandom has a large, large tendency to judge an episode solely by the characters attached to it and then disregarding everything good it does or everything bad it does just because of something as superficial as that. That’s what happened with Princess Spike, that’s what is happening with this episode, and that’s what happened with episodes like Dragonshy, Hurricane Fluttershy, Filli Vanilli, and the hordes of Fluttershy episodes that are the same thing being repeated ad nauseam.
 
The only breakaway from the fandom’s formula of judgement has been PYHD, and that’s based on the fact they didn’t like seeing their precious Fluttershy not act like a complete angel.

I enjoyed the episode’s pace of story with Rarity and Dash. It was completely obvious who the villian was, even though I was having me fingers crossed for Lighting Dust to be revealed. But still pretty enjoyable for the most part. I gave it 9/10.
