Oh of course it failed but it at least kept me entertained and had some interesting new characters and moments in it.

I didn’t think Princess Spike was that terrible. It kind of lost me near the end where all the blame was being pushed on Spike even though it was just a chain of random events. There are way WAY worse Spike episodes than Princess Spike.

Yeah I agree with you here.  
All an episode of MLP has to do to be good in my eyes is to entertain me. I don’t care if there is a small plot hole here, or if a pony might be a bit flanderized or OOC. As long as I find myself enjoying what I watch, that is all I care about. This episode is a great example.

That’s cool. We don’t share the same opinion. That’s the truly great part about this. I’m different from you. :D

Personally, I saw it as more of an homage to classic murder mystery TV. The villian is, 9 times out of 10, usually the charismatic “special guest” character who was introduced earlier in the episode. The ending, while predictable, was par for the course.

Jesus, get this people. The episode was massively entertaining, who cares that the conclusion was obvious.

I am not a fan of Noir style stuff I found Rarity’s monologing annoying and the black and white thing is grating to watch the plot was boring and predictable to the extreme there were very little interesting things going on with the characters there was just nothing happening in this episode other than the guards banter and the cute scene with RD and Rarity.
 
Yeah I didn’t like this episode It’s just my opinion I’m sure some people like this sort of thing but not me.
