Do you mean the colors/designs?
I mean, the main target of the show is young girls. Kids love colors, bright colors. MLP has always focused on rainbows in some way, shape or form. Given that they can change and be whatever, it makes sense for them to have a hodgepodge form. From what I recall, most changing species in games/stories tend to be a hodgepodge to emphasize their ability.

Or Celestia just thought that Discord had sufficiently paid for his crimes by that time and felt Fluttershy could at least rein him in enough to no longer run amok with his chaos. (Personally, I support the idea that she had some sort of vague premonition that his presence would be necessary in the near future, but I don’t think such a supposition is necessary to justify her action.)

Celestia’s reason for releasing Discord still doesn’t make sense to this day
It makes perfect sense if you assume that she had some kind of foreknowledge– however vague it may have been– of Tirek’s return and the role Discord would play in essentially shoving Twilight into her Key. She said out loud at the time that she had a use for his magic.

as for the designs, I personally like the new design I’m willing to give it a chance, I’m also willing to give them a chance to answer questions about the changeling.
they simply weren’t the focus of the episode, they were the background. so we don’t know what was on their mind.
If I were you, I would give them a little more time to answer these questions and speculation BEFORE you pass your ultimate judgement.

And not one single ending besides probably Discord’s “reformation” and Twilight’s ascension ever changed the status quo so horribly.
Not only that but none of the quickly rushed endings ever changed an entire race mind you and in such a ridiculous conflicted free manner. Usually there’s some amount of development before the ending. I literally can’t think besides Discord’s reformation that there has ever been such a lack of conflict in a ending. Well a meaningful conflict anyways.

Yes and completely getting used to it is not a good thing either as that’ll prompt the people who created the conception not to improve it.

Return of Harmony most likely gets a pass because it was nowhere near as much as a status quo change as Cutie Remark or Keep Calm Flutter on.
Also Return Of Harmony didn’t redeem anybody either so that’s a unfair comparison.
Keep Calm and Flutter on didn’t get a pass at all. Alot of people didn’t like it and Celestia’s reason for releasing Discord still doesn’t make sense to this day.

I don’t agree with that They wrapped everything up, the pacing was alright. though I DO think that there are still things to be explained in future episodes, due to time constraints

And I think it screwed with the end here more than it has even those episodes.
Because they didn’t just have to rush some concepts and narratives past us, they skipped things that could have made entire episode plots in themselves to get their ending in.

Problem with having old changelings is that the changelings that appear as the old ones have already been implied to be living the wrong type of life anyway. Thorax is apparently how they should’ve been living their life and his evolution is the epitome of what a changeling should be.
What’s dumb is that if Thorax from the way he was born and his beliefs is to be believed then you have to wonder why exactly does every other changeling action the way they do. It’s extremely convoluted and about as unnecessary as how they got their holes in the IDW comics because somebody had to apparently change how their genetics work.

Hmmmmmmm how about how the extremely fast solution to the conflict they had got gutted by the transformation? Actually no how about the plot hole on on how they even know how to share love in the first place which besides Thorax they shouldn’t. Maybe how the changelings had zero development towards even being redeemed besides lol we don’t feel hungry anymore. Their’s also the way the narrative gives them a choice to to lead a better life which is then butchered when the narrative gives zero personal responsibility to go with the choice they made which then falls flat on its fact when the narrative blames the entirety of the changelings actions on Chrysalis.
None of the complaints non valid? It’s already resembling IDW comics and how they handle their redemptions to the almost exact formula.
No, I call him an asskiss because of previous discussions with him. Most notably He’s pretty much the single defender on this website of Twilight’s actions in the Good, the bad and the ponies comic arc (with the bulls). He actually tried to defend this comic not because it was good but because he was afraid people would hate Twilight for this single (HORRIBLE) arc with her. Anyway.

I HOPE they’ll have old changelings again, it’s hard to see how it could still work given how EASY Thorax convinced an entire Hive, but I really hope it is.
Thing is, it’s to call this a “continuity”, again, changelings besides the thorax episode and the tease in season 5 finale haven’t been used since season 2. They were barely used except as a generic villain drone. And now I fear all the possibilities with them is gone. And they were one of the most appealing villain of the show. They seriously should not have season 7 without Chrysalis, heck she should be the main villain of the Movie.
In the end, this episode is literally like all previous second episodes of villains: a redemption episode: Trixie, Gilda, Glimmer, Changelings, by their second episodes, they’re excused. The most consistent villain this show has are Flim and flam because they needed 4 episodes.
I just want some good, serious villains to build on. The same way the changelings were back in the old days.
