Background Pony #BA1A
Even when the series ends, there will probably be fan videos like the .MOV series, or Friendship is Witchcraft. I hope.

I don’t know, both of the previous TMNT cartoons lasted a long time. The original one almost made it to 200 episodes, and lasted 9 years.

Every story ends at some point. Hopefully not in the near future, but it will end someday. Maybe by then, there will be something equally as entertaining to take its place.

“If it does end, it’ll most likely be around Season 6 or Season 8 or so, similar to Scrubs.”

That’s the ideal in my mind.

I would like to see the universe explored as much as the writers and directors want to explore it.

At some point, the people working on the show will probably get tired of working 5-6/8-12 40-72 hours a week on Pony (or part of that time). They’re creative people. They may want to move on to something different.

If that’s the case, then I’d hope that they have in mind how much DHX wants to explore the universe, how much they’d want to leave untold, and give the series a proper ending (e.g., movie, 3 episode finale, series ending season arc.) If Twilight does become Princess of Equestria or something, then I could see that occurring comfortably in 6-8 seasons.

However, depending upon how Hasbro wants to go about it, they may keep the show going for as long as its profitable.

Ideally, I’d want there to be a compromise of sorts. The people working on the show leave at about the same time/begin working more on other shows and they resolve to end the series instead of it just being cut off/cancelled.

And then Hasbro would hire on new talent for G5. Certainly different, but just as inspired and devoted to making the Pony universe a great show. I think they’ll remember what happens when you get a talented team of creators, a great universe that the creators are willing to bring to life, and a bunch of geeks with too much time on their hands an audience who will be willing to watch anything that’s fun, colorful, and uplifting.

Or more simply, Hasbro rides the pony until it’s fairly tired and not completely shot out. And then when G5 comes around, they resolve to make sure that it’s not the same as G4, but it’s just as creative and inspired.

And hopefully that “formula” carries over into other shows.

And hopefully that spreads to other shows and networks who see the success of those shows.

I think I’m rambling a bit, but I think that makes enough sense.

Hopefully the show will last as long as The Simpsons, which will almost certainly end at Season 25, which is next year.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

Besides, most young children’s shows don’t last a long time because they don’t get a lot of viewers. Friendship is Magic is a huge success among bronies as well as young children, and G4 is making a lot of money for Hasbro. I think the show will stay on the air for a little while longer.

If it does end, it’ll most likely be around Season 6 or Season 8 or so, similar to Scrubs.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

They ran out of unique friendship lessons by the end of season 1. That was the whole point of the show. Things can only get wackier, and hopefully more creative and/or dramatic from here on out.

If a kids show gains a huge cult following among people outside its target demographic, they usually last a lot longer. Just look at Spongebob Squarepants.

I’m ok with that OP… I’d rather this show have a graceful conclusion that linger for years past its prime as zombie cashcow similar to the abomination that Spongebob Squarepants became.

Pomegranates :P
Pokemon is an exception also. It too has a colossal cult following. However its a Japanese anime with a firm hold that’s been around for more than a decade. The games are great, but the anime has gone to shit. I don’t just know how they keep anime profitable especially with the shitty ass character we call Ash Ketchum.

On topic, I don’t know about American children programing. They seem to come and go pretty quickly. Or in Spongebob and Sonic X’s case, continue to spam reruns till no end.

It’s also very rare for a kid show to spawn a fanbase that creates music, customs, animations, conventions and charities.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

Season 1 & two were twice as long as an average cartoon show (13 episodes for a lot of those 90s shows that Faust worked on) so we might as well be on season 5 right now.
