“ No fair, you know I can’t answer that! If I say it’s you, then you’ll just think I’m kissing up you; but if I say it’s me, well then you’ll say I’m just being a dumb, cocky idiot. And if I suggest it’s somepony else other than you or me, then you’ll just yell, “Aha! I knew you’d be too chicken to answer the question and try to weasel your way out of it!” So it doesn’t matter what I say, you’ll just take it as me being the biased stallion that I am.”
 
 
“ Well how am I supposed to argue with that?”
 
 
“By going out there and showing me and the rest of Equestria that the answer to that question, is you.”
 
 
“ Gee, Soarin, how do you always know what to say.”
 
 
“I like to think it’s all a part of my charm.”
 
 
“Pfft, you wish. Your about as charming as klutzy and socially-awkward dork with too much body spray.”
 
 
“But I’m your klutzy and socially-awkward dork with too much body spray.”
 
 
“Heh, I guess you are.”

So, I know SoarinDash is no new ship to this fandom. It’s probably one of the oldest out there, right behind Rarispike, which if we’re honest, is the longest running since practically episode one. But I like to think of this one like old wine; it just get’s better and better as time goes on.
 
And it’s really cute so why not :3
 
Here’s my take on it all:
 
(Note* my next gen stops at around season 6-7, so I’m working off of that material for their love story. This is going to be long)
 

 
It seems that ever since Rainbow first met the Wonderbolts, when she saved their unconscious hindquarters from becoming expired, they have forever become an integral part of her life. She was so caught up in trying to impress and please Spitfire ̶s̶o̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶s̶h̶e̶ ̶c̶o̶u̶l̶d̶ ̶b̶e̶c̶o̶m̶e̶ ̶a̶ ̶w̶o̶n̶d̶e̶r̶b̶o̶l̶t̶ ̶h̶e̶r̶s̶e̶l̶f̶ that Rainbow never paid much attention to the rest of the dare-devil crew, save for one stallion. Rainbow didn’t really give him much thought at first, he was just another face in the crowd of suits she longed to wear. The only memborale thing was that he really, really liked Apple Jack’s pie for some reason.
 
That all changed when she faked being hurt and was stationed in the same hospital room with the actually injured Soarin. Talk about an awkward first date. Still, it was the first time she got to really know him and it felt good to stand up for him and his spot on the team. It least, it seemed to really impress Soarin anyway. Ever since then, Soarin just sorta  
…become a part of her life. Especially when it came to joining the team. He acted so pleased and excited to have her as his partner; Rainbow chalked it up to her being naturally awesome and as a part of his personality.
 
As time went on, she noticed that Soarin wasn’t necessarily the same way with all the team members. For instance, he’d always volunteer to practice with her when it came to paring up, and it seemed like there was always a spot in the cafeteria saved just for her right next to him ( which Rainbow was grateful for, since it was usually overcrowded). Not to mention all the compliments on her flying and extra cheers he’d scream on her solos. Rainbow thought it was ̶c̶u̶t̶e̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶e̶n̶d̶e̶a̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ simply him being the pal that he was. Since, you know, they’re just good ole’ buddies, chummy comrades, and fantastic flying friends.
 
This went on for about a year, filled with plenty of platonic late-night talks together or private practice sessions for support and flying purposes ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶a̶t̶ ̶a̶l̶l̶ ̶s̶o̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶y̶ ̶c̶o̶u̶l̶d̶ ̶h̶a̶n̶g̶ ̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶together . Until one evening, when Soarin asked Rainbow Dash to be his date to the Gala. She didn’t give it a second thought at first, but as the two swayed in time to the unusually soft music, gazing lovingly into each others eyes, Rainbow suddenly realized how much she had come to come to care for her friend and that maybe…it was meant to be like this forever .Cue record scratch as Rainbow zoomed out of the ball room as quickly as she could, leaving Soarin confused by this sudden action and the look of dread on her face.
 
Since he’s not the melodramatic type, Soarin gave Rainbow some space and got a slice of pie (because why not) before going to look for her. He found her hiding away behind the Castle’s statuary quietly groaning and muttering to herself. When she saw Soarin approach her she was sure he’d be angry, or it least freaked out, by her randomly running away, but he only smiled as he offered her a slice and a chance to talk. Talk they did, for pretty much the rest of the entire Gala, and may or may not have confessed their love for each other during it. All anypony knows is that, not long after that evening, the two not-so-subtly announced their relationship.
 
Their eagerly awaited and debated wedding was held in the auditorium that Rainbow Dash competed in the young flyer competition for, and yes, Rainbow did perform her trademark classic Sonic Rainboom for her new Hubby who watched with tears of pride and joy. Everypony said afterwards that it was a truly awesome wedding, especially Spitfire, who was now 30 bits richer. It wasn’t long before the pair moved into a small complex on the outskirts of cloudsdale, where they continue to perform for the wonderbolts ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶a̶r̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶m̶o̶s̶t̶ ̶s̶h̶i̶p̶p̶e̶d̶ ̶p̶a̶i̶r̶ ̶b̶y̶ ̶f̶a̶n̶s̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶t̶e̶a̶m̶m̶a̶t̶e̶s̶ a̶l̶i̶k̶e̶. For right now, the two are solely focused on their career, but who knows, a kid or two may show up before long (wink wink nudge nudge)
 

 
What I love about Rainbow and Soarin, is they are similar in that they both love racing, obsessed with impressing, and over achievers when it comes to persevering and accomplishing their goals, but are different enough to where they balance each other out. Soarin is pretty chill guy when it comes to life and likes to think things through while waiting patiently for time to work things out. So when Rainbow is ready to dive in head first or barrel through things impatiently with possible injuries included, Soarin is there to help her slow down and restrain herself when needed, and he does it without being smothering ( a little excessive at times maybe but what Husband isn’t?). On the flip side, Dashie’s expert at pushing Soarin to try new things he’d never would’ve thought to try, and he has her to thank for all the moral support and snappy pep talks he gets when he needs them most.
 
 
All in all, I think they make a lovely, daredevil, adventure-seeking, pie-loving couple. :3
