Honestly, Chrysalis’ post hive-coup decent into madness is one of the most real background character arcs Ive ever seen. I absolutely love the depth it gives her.
 
She was, by her nature, a social creature, now she’s lost her society and refuses the friendships that could help her cope.
 
Crushed by the loneliness, all she has left to interact with is the log that was her last servant, who tried to kill her.

season 9 isnt out for netflix yet so i want to know if this is true, but please nl other spoilers… acctualy i dont care if u spoil it cause in mlp everything is a happy ending

If resorting to talking to what’s essentially the corpse of someone who tried to kill her is any indication, she needs Cozy Glow and Tirek quite a bit more than she thinks she does.
 
Rejecting friendship in favor of her pride has done nothing but hurt Chrysalis so far, especially after the S6 finale, and the sooner she (possibly) sees that, the better.
 
Come to think of it, Chrysalis really isn’t alone in that front (hurting herself by rejecting friendship), is she?

Reading the comments makes me wonder if a future fanfic will address Chryslight in this respect…

I believe she just really misses her hive or having some company, which I found quite more disturbing and sad.  
Just imagine it - she basically sacrificed her life for the hive (yeah, I know, + seeking the power, but she still took care of her children), and one day when she achieved her goal of entraping the Mane 6 and Princesses, her own son betrays her, kicks her out of her kingdom and becames the king of her hive. No wonders she acts messed up.
