I understood that reference.
I’ve always taken that as the reason why in Doctor Who, similar times will be so drastically different, the Doctor unintentionally screwing up history.
It doesn’t matter what your intentions are, there is always a chance you could ruin the future, which while not perfect, is acceptable as it is now in the present.
Think about it, from Starlights perspective, all she wanted to do was break up the friendship of 6 ponies, as a result the latest future she created was a wasteland with no life in sight.
