PonyPon is actually correct in that this isn’t some kind of impending American Mass Extinction event even if (European honey)bees disappeared. One, by mass most of our staple crops are wind pollinators. Two, most of our native pollinators aren’t extinct or endangered. Three, of the bee-pollinated staple crops that aren’t wind pollinated, some of the most important (think potatoes) are pollinated by solitary bees, bumble bees, or not by bees.

Unless you’re not American. Yes the loss of bees would be a shock to the ecology of non-American countries but unlike America, our native pollinators haven’t been killed off by the invasive bee populations meaning that we have alternatives that can maintain pollination.

In fact those species will see an upsurge in numbers thanks to Bees not taking all the pollen.

In America however almost all of there native pollinators are extinct or in very low numbers meaning that their crops are facing a mass extinction event with the loss of bees.
