I feel like there were enough moments earlier on where Thistle seemed clearly conflicted about her choices and feelings.
She mentioned how ‘it would be easier if I just hated you’ to Fizzy at one point.
Also keep in mind that Thistledown clearly leans towards kindness and forgiveness in her own outlook on life.
In other words, she was always capable of coming to terms with Tempest.

Hmm. I understand. Perhaps I will rephrase her words.
She had two moments when she was torn about the whole thing and crying; and later she told Tempest that she is not going to forget what she did. So here it’s just her trying to explain how this forgiveness was possible in the first place, but perhaps it’s too callous.
Okay that’s not what Thistle said, but still. I can understand Thistle not being that said because her father was a stubborn jerk who sent her away. Not to mention her living away from her family and probably only meeting them once in a while. But part of me is bothered that she got over her father’s death so quickly because she has the hots for Tempest. Probably just me being irrational due being very close with my father.
She’s not aware. Don’t be suprised! She’s only 6-7 yo and this is classic confirmation bias. She wants to see good and nice Fizzy and so she does, filtering out everything else. We all do that. But eventually, she will connect the dotes of course.
I’m just still more surprised Lulu isn’t aware that Fizzle is Tempest, unless of course she is aware of that now and simply just doesn’t seem to care so much after getting to know her.
Well, not for someone like Thistle, who thinks that telling the truth is not always worth it.
Thistle: “I was sent to spy on you.”
Tempest: “Well I mean that was pretty obvious but kay…”
