This looks like Izzy licked Hitch, who is grossed out by it. In fact, it’s Hitch who grabbed Izzy and pulled on her tongue^^ while singing about how weird unicorns are.
 
This seems to confirm the suspicions that all of the “hoof grabbing” is done with “multiple” tiny flexible projections of muscle (rather than a single “force”), as otherwise the tonge of Izzy would not look this way.  
-> This is not invisible to the ponies, only to the audience [like their genitals & teats].
