This actually sounds like a really reasonable line of events.
It would be really interesting to see what the future looks like in modern equestria.
Hasbro ^^ You know what to do

Hasbro has chosen. We will get what what it will be.

Besides - whether Grogar shows up in the G5 or not, his return is almost guaranteed in the MLP because he’s the boss villain of the Ponyverse from the very beginning. He is “the last enemy” of the Ponykind, also the most dangerous. When Gusty the Great rebelled and took the bell from Grogar, it is possible that she managed to banish the tyrant into the limbo, if information about the big bell from G1 is canon in the G4 / G5.

By smashing the big bell, Grogar will lose the smaller one and be banished for 500 years along with his city of Tambledon. But if Gusty had realized that she should save the smaller bell and carry it away, and then smash the big bell, it could prevent Grogar from returning, trapped forever in the limbo. This means that the only thing that can free Grogar from his prison is magic - magic based on fear.

Maybe Sunny had intervened at the last minute, and may have saved Equestria and maybe the whole world, but if Grogar is involved, it will only be a temporary setback.

this movie raises SOOOOOO many questions!

Definitely, yes! If the remains of Argyle in memory of him are in the same place as where the bell had stood early, there is a new indication that Grogar may be involved. And it is possible that Argyle died prematurely - where Grogar`s bell is involved. Also, we have learned that the father hid a lot from his daughter who discovered that the lighthouse hid more than she anticipated.

We have discovered in the movie that it was not war or disagreements that caused the ponies to separate, but fears that seemed to be due to collective memory loss where everyone began to have myth-like perceptions about each other. Only the three crystals that may have been created by the element of Magic had been able to retain pony magic despite the fact that all pony magic was wiped out, leaving only internal magic. This suggests a powerful magic at the alicorn level, and there are very few who are knowledgeable and powerful enough to reach this level rather than being a magical construction like Discord, throughout Ponyverse.

If Grogar returns - Sunny will need all the help, even from all the alicorns of the past. It is possible that he could not return to Equus and take power again, so he will whip up fear through indirect means to become strong enough to break out. Argyle may have lost his life when he came too close to Grogar’s plans. I think Grogar is still in the limbo, but the barrier between him and Equus is weakening.

If it happens; Sunny will be in the same shoes as Rey from Star Wars. Gusty the Great freed Equus from the tyrant of fear long before the modern Equestria was created, and now it is possible that he will return to re-establish his empire.

In different shots, there’s also maps with circled areas, and constellation charts and such- maybe trying to figure out where Ponyville and Canterlot were? I mean, there’s the theory/picture of Maretime Bay being located at Baltimare and Zephyr Heights being located at Canterlot, but in this movie, it’s something like a couple days trot from Maretime Bay to Zephyr Heights. And FiM established that it’s a couple days by train from Ponyville to Canterlot, and Baltimare seemed farther away. Although the train probably takes odd twists through the mountains as it gets close to Canterlot.
