You know when a movie’s really good?

Seriously this movie absolutely rules, it’s great. I had a great time with it and you might too. Strong recommend!

When you think about it, Robocop could count as a Christmas movie. There’s no better Jesus Christ allegory out there, and I’m willing to put my hand on the fire for that one. It’s so good and so subtle, while not being subtle whatsoever and featuring some of the most gruesome bursts of hyper-violence in movie history. I’m not saying anything new of course, these are themes everyone’s noticed and mentioned ever since the movie got released, but it’s funny to me how an 80’s action movie with exploding hands, melting bodies, people being mangled by machine-gun fire, can be so sincere without being completely cynical.

And it was a big success too! That’s the thing, this type of movie doesn’t succeed so much anymore. Movies like this will always be made, but they’re now the exception, rather than the rule.
