Después de su boda Spike y Rarity decidieron iniciar una familia, tras consultar a Twilight que tan probable era que tuvieran un hijo de su sangre empezaron a pensar en la adopción, sin embargo tras el paso de los meses Rarity pareció enfermar repentinamente, por lo que decidieron visitar a Zecora ya que en el hospital de Ponyville no lograban identificar que tenía, había una especie de barrera mágica que se los impedía.
Tras la noticia dada por Zecora, llegaron las felicitaciones de sus amigas y familia, sin embargo junto con aquella gran alegría también existía un gran temor, ambos sabían que la existencia de un híbrido entre un pony y un dragón nunca había sido documentado en Equestria, pero para su alivio, cuando la bebé nació lo único diferente a simple vista era su apariencia física, cuerpo de pony, ojos de dragón, pequeñas escamas en su espalda, garras en sus cascos, pequeños colmillos y cola como una mezcla de la de ambos padres.
Cuando Snow tenía 7 años, Rarity y Spike fueron padres nuevamente, y con la pequeña Sapphire se confirmaba que a pesar de ser de la misma “especie”, no se parecía tanto a su hermana, cuerpo y ojos de pony, cascos con garras, pequeños cuernos, alas de dragón y escamas en varias partes de su cuerpo.
Desde que Snow vio a su hermana por primera vez supo que la protegería de todo, sus primeros años en la escuela no fueron fáciles, muchos potros se burlaban de ella por su apariencia, sin embargo en su tamaño tenía la fuerza de un dragón joven y con el tiempo se hizo respetar y siguió adelante.
Con el paso de los años las diferencias entre las hermanas se acrecentaron, pronto notaron que Sapphire por el contrario a su hermana era tímida, no le gustaba mucho socializar, prefería pasar más tiempo con su padre en sus viajes a la Tierra de los Dragones, no tenía ningún interés en cosas relacionadas con la moda.
Por otro lado Snow ya había obtenido su cutie mark en trabajo con gemas, le gustaba viajar con su madre visitando las diferentes boutiques, ayudarla en sus nuevas líneas de ropa, ir a apoyarla a la Semana de la moda en Ponyhhatan. A pesar de esto ambas seguían siendo inseparables y se apoyaban en todo.
Al llegar a la adolescencia Sapphire empezó; a resentir a su hermana, pues ella veía que Snow era lo mejor de sus dos padres, mientras que ella no había hecho nada que sobresaliera aún, un día tras otra de sus peleas, ella la llevó a otro punto, atacó a su hermana creyendo que su ventaja de tamaño la ayudaría, pero nunca tomó en cuenta la fuerza de su hermana a pesar de su tamaño, y en medio de la pelea terminó con una herida profunda en su mejilla, la cual la dejaría con una cicatriz para el resto de sus días…
Al final, tras haber cumplido 22 años Sapphire finalmente encontró su hogar en la Tierra de los Dragones, viviendo con Ember y su familia, tras este descubrimiento se disculpó con su familia y la relación con su hermana volvióa ser la misma, este lazo les sería indispensable tras un largo tiempo, pues al ser híbridos y tener en sus genes magia de unicornio y ADN de dragón su tiempo de vida era indefinido, llegando incluso a vivir más que Spike, por lo que después se tendrían solo la una a la otra…
