That’s likely possible, but I doubt it.

Imagine acting entitled over a kid’s show
You’re mostly gonna see that in the comics, seeing how they’re going to revisit G4 stuff. It seems like in the show’s canon, dragons are a dying species because as mentioned, never been seen more many generations. So they may be a dying species in the brink of extinction.
I still think that everything Post-2017 Movie was a terrible direction for the show to go in. Instead of focusing on Little Miss Schoolhouse for one season only to quickly abandon it for Celestia and Luna abdicating the throne to an incompetent Princess, we should have had Season 8 revolve around the aftermath of the movies’ events and take the show down a darker path by showing that Equestria’s ran out of both respect and patience for Twilight in-light of her essentially leaving them for dead multiple times across the series, with the latest three-day invasion by The Storm King serving as their final straw…
There IS such a thing as it being just a retcon. The likely answer is sometimes just the simplest/easiest.
…and somehow the team insists that G5 is set in the same universe as G4?
