Sea Glow took a moment to calm himself. Sure, he’d gotten himself locked inside the cargo room of the sunken, rusted ship he was exploring, but there was plently of air left inside his oxygen tube. He would have time to figure out how get himself out of there. He tugged at the door that had trapped him inside the dark room, but it didn’t budge. Maybe two ponies could’ve gotten it open, but he had opted to dive alone that day, a decision he deeply regretted now. Exhaling slowly, he looked around for any cracks or hidden openings. The only one he was able to find was a set of portholes by the side of the ship. He’d initially discarded them as they looked too small, but seeing as they were his only obvious way out, he swam up to one that was missing its glass panel to take a closer look.

The rusted opening still looked tight… but the creeping thought of his air supply running out urged him on to try and squeeze through. He took off his oxygen tube and gently pushed it through first, holding it in his hooves until he could place it on the side of the tilted ship. He then wiggled his broad shoulders through the gap, immediately finding himself lodged by his chest. He’d done plenty of tight squeezes underwater before, and knew to exhale all the way to compress his chest as much as possible. That said, despite making himself as small as possible, he had to wiggle around for a concerning amount of time before he could squeeze his muscular body halfway through the gap. His senses were filled by the bubbles that covered his vision and the sound of his suit squeaking as it rubbed against old metal. The soaked feathers of his wings hung up annoyingly against the rusted edges. As soon as his chest was free, he took a moment to breathe a few good times before pushing against the hull of the ship and wiggling forward.

His relief was shattered as he snagged on his lower body. Looking down, his heart sank as he saw just how much space his hips were taking up. Unlike his chest or belly, he couldn’t compress or suck in his rump; he was forced to squeeze the bulk of it through the tight hole. He wiggled around and pushed upwards, hoping to somehow force himself all the way through in a matter or minutes. However, as the minutes passed he was no further through the hole than just having wedged the top of his hips into the circular hatch. His suit squeaked as he jerked forward, the pressure on his lower body intensifying, before any and all progress stopped. Worry turned into dread as she shoved and heaved, not feeling himself budge in the slightest. He kept pushing and twisting his body around in denial, but after a full minute of failing to extract himself, he had to face the fact that he’d gotten himself stuck.

Then, the reality of it hit him: he was stuck!

Stuck in the porthole of the sunken ship.

Deep underwater.

All alone.

He was close to panic, but remembered his training and forced himself to breathe at a normal pace. He looked around, at the porthole and at his oxygen tube which he gave a light tap. He’d lost track of just how much air he had left. He sighed heavily, again regretting nopony being there to pull him out. As dire as his situation was, there was nothing he could do but to keep trying to fit through for as long as he could. So he went back to pushing on the hull, trying to wiggle his rump through the tight gap, hoping for a miracle: to get himself out of there before it was too late…
