Now you’re just trying to twist things to suit your views, which just shows your desperation to seem like you’re right about something.
You’re just trying to disregard the point I made because all other nations treated slaves super badly because you want to to look at this through a purely modern lens and don’t want to take it as something did happen and that’s that.
I’m not going to play your little game.
Simply put, so many people these days want to do whatever they want and not take responsibility for their poor choices and such things, and they demand that they be told that the wrong things they do are good.
And I personally tend to believe that the being who created the whole freaking universe, which is far bigger than any of us mere humans can truly grasp, might, just might know a fair bit more than us, and that alone is worth listening to.

The problem is that the Bible, as it exists now, is composed of texts selected on the Pauline doctrine and excluded both gnostic and judaic christianity. Which it both outlived. Ergo selectively composed of positions that chose to ignore the Halakha where it was convenient to do so for the purpose of making christianity more ‘popular’ with gentiles. And incorporated many of Paul’s own beliefs and statements as gospel that don’t have any basis or are prone to being taken out of proportion. If we must accept the fundamentalist interpretation, none of the currently extant denominations may claim to adhere to the unaltered Word of God.

@Sff
Translations aren’t exactly the same thing as changing what the Bible teaches, but I guess the majority of churches and such did in fact introduce a bunch of stupid human doctrines and such into their teachings.

No offense, but that’s an incredibly stupid comparison and shows your complete ignorance of what Bible even says about things like that.
If you actually read a Bible, and not just skimmed through it, you’d see that the way the Hebrews/Israelites had slaves was completely different to that of pretty much ALL other nations.
Slaves were often in such a position because of a monetary debt or something like that, but they were to still be treated humanely, and once their debt was paid off, they were free to go, which is far more than can be said of how most nations or peoples treated their slaves.
Not to mention how early Christians were instructed to not keep slaves in any capacity.
And the only reason it got changed of what Jesus said would happen. You know, the whole “they will come in as wolves in sheep’s clothing” and all that, which did happen.
