The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

  1. Applejack is both stubborn and terrible at math. She has trouble counting to ten.
  2. They have a monopoly going on. There is literally no competition in the entire Everfree basin.
  3. Applejack is the one that said they were having financial problems, and I already mentioned she sucks at math.

They’re a struggling business trying to stay in business, not the fairness police.
Ever run a business with cashflow problems? Because that’s what AJ’s dealing with all the time. Apparently they don’t have banking in equestria…

They would still have to pay for it so its not like their losing anything. You could argue it be unfair since it be like favoritism but I think most people would understand and its the simplest solution …to rainbow dashes problem at least.

Under stress, they were easily able to not just meet demand, but exceed it. They typically make five barrels a day. In the episode, they managed to make several times that before asking for help during the competition. If they had been doing that from the start, then they’d have much more than they originally needed.

What you suggested would be unfair on the grounds that it’s increasing the price of a product they can already make in excess, and forcing customers to overpay for a much lower quality product as well.

Yeah, that’s a solid business strategy…

You guys, seriously, try running a business someday, once you’re out of college/stop living in a commune.

I… wait, what? “Make several times what they can sell”?
Were we watching the same episode? Because their problem was not being able to meet demand at the current price

What’s wrong with it?
It’s a pretty standard example of tapering the downstream end of their overly integrated firm, while using product differentiation to maintain their branding and market position.

Or they should do the sensible thing:
keep jacking up the price and hire more labour until they hit equilbrium, and sell the surplus windfall apples to their business partner Filthy.

People who want to pay for it can drink Apple Family cider without waiting in line. The rest of them can go to Rich-mart and buy cheap cider concentrate. Everyone goes home drunk and happy.
