They could have revealed that Goku knew about the conditions before hand, would have redeemed his character in a big way if nothing else,

Good thing about the last episode is that it revealed Zeno to not be some dumbass kid with universe-erasing powers. Sure, he probably did the tournament for his own amusement but there was a grander scheme of things for it.

Well that was decent. Liked how Goku was in and out of Super Saiyan right at the end of it

Really it was the whole “tournament’s actually a secret test” that kept the wish to restore universes from being a complete cop out. Kinda like it, but still somehow…cheap?

It also kind of worked because of the thematic difference between Jiren and Goku and how the wish was made by someone who was completely indifferent if his entire universe was erased. There were some sophisticated ideas underneath it all, if only for a few passing minutes. The reason why it was cheap was because there wasn’t any deserved build up or clues that indicated otherwise, which makes it feel like a sudden and underwhelming retcon.

I wouldn’t say that there’s no consequences: Frieza’s back in charge (again), so the Universe has to deal with his reign of terror again. Jiren became a better person after the TOP. Universes 13-18 might possibly be revived since the wish wasn’t very specific. I’m glad the Tournament was a test, it at least shows the Zeno have some moral standards.

It’s to be expected after the last episode in the series, now that all the cards are on the table and the show is in its reminiscent phase.
 
After all is said and done, Super was really entertaining and the new story felt like a good continuation, despite the current focus on only its most glaring aspects. Very few shows can maintain interest for over a hundred episodes week after week. It only tells how much emotional investment people have in the story and world.

So, after an enjoyable premiere of MLP Season 8, we have the finale of Dragon Ball Super.
 
I knew the universes would return (and I’m happy of it), but I was surprised that #17 was the one who made that wish.
 
Anyway, I hope Toriyama continues with the series soon. I want to know more about the other universes.

I think universe 6 is still going to be big. They were popular before, now they’re off the charts.

Champa’s great, I didn’t think we were even debating that. And Vados is Whis with boobs, so all good.

goku will do a 10 second (or more) attack animation to deliver a strong punch. clark would just do it in 2.
