Read as many articles, papers, and journals as I have and you’ll learn that quality can vary on every front. I’ve read quite a few professional ones that make me tear my hair out, peer reviewed and everything. Granted, many were “reviewed” by ideological think-tanks who had a vested interest in the end result of the study.
 
Keep in mind that many big papers out of research universities are done with heavy student involvement. The college I’m at produces a good portion of the major sociological studies in the south-west Va area, and most are done by the students.
 
Basically, I’m just saying blame the specific paper, and the idiots that use them, not the entire thing.

Though to be honest, I see so much conflicting information that is like you said a result of ideological think tanks and similar that I don’t really trust any of them completely.
 
Anyway, it would be interesting to see a study of Millennial activism and the role social media plays in it. because millennials and/or social media are totally under-researched/written about topics, amirite? :P

Actually, you are right. Social media is under researched, insofar as it’s not being researched properly. It tends to be studied in a bubble, and often compared to more traditional forms of communication.
 
Much like violence in video games, these studies tend to be done with preconceived bias, and done by people who are outside looking in. Now that many of the “net generation” are entering their professional lives, you’ll see that change.

I don’t know what happened to feminism over the years for the tumblr kind to become the public face for the organization. Has the bulk of the members of feminism always been like this? Even some of the feminist thinkers accept that the system is sexist towards men, so why does tumblr treat saying the word “men” and “oppression” in the same sentence to be some sort of a blood curse?
 
All I know is, these people are creating the MRA’s they hate so much. For example, when you have men who like MLP and get shit for it, most try feminism for support, but then find out the tumblr kind and immediately abandon ship because of it. It’s so bizarre to know that these “feminists” are creating such a strong backlash that MRA’s only need to point out tumblr for recruiting material.
 
Considering that, at least, in the west, 40% of all reported rape victims are men and 80% of these perpetrators were reported as women, you can not make the argument that only women are victims or that the majority of rapists of men are men themselves. Also considering that even if this 80% statistic is higher than it should be, feminists should be the first people in the world to understand the issue with majority rule and how these public opinions can turn out to be oppressive when they are one sided and never consider the alternative scenarios.
 
If that wasn’t bad enough, these feminists then turn around and say it to be a “privilege” that men aren’t raped, when it is exactly this line of thinking that prevents people from reporting, which by the way, is one of the major pivotal tenets of ‘rape culture’. To know that feminists are the one’s perpetuating ‘rape culture’ is something that I lose sleep over.
 
Life used to make sense and feminists used to be the good guys of society or maybe I was just imagining things from the start. Vampires and were-wolfs are for women, ponies are for men, never thinking how you look is feminine, dieting is manly, oppressors are women, men are victims, women are virgin shamed and men slut shamed.
 
I don’t even know anymore.

Too much confusing shit going on, yeah. I wouldn’t doubt many MRAs once looked towards feminism for solidarity.
 
I’ve once heard the argument that some feminists have turned it into essentially what is a right-wing movement, funny for people who legitimately use “Republican” as an insult. At worst, they just want to be on “top” rather than share power. Or even worse, claim that men have “had their time to have power and it’s time for women to control,” which is hilarious IMO.

Sometimes I think the Internet is actually causing a slight de-evolution in humanity. It’s…too easy to state whatever crap you’re thinking of right now, and it’s too easy to get worked up by the crap another person is thinking of right now.

It’s no surprise that most of these activists are late millennial, Western, (usually American) older teens.

I got something to gripe about in regards to “social justice warriors”.  
First time I heard the term, on NotAlwaysRight (http://notalwaysworking.com/a-rebel-with-too-many-causes/27078), I thought it was hysterical. A joke. What a loony. Surely there aren’t too many people like that in real life. I went to knowyourmeme to see if there was any correlation. There was. I found myself thoroughly disgusted with what I found. I shrugged it off, I hadn’t run into any of them, I should be fine.
 
Fast forward 4 months. I texted a female friend of mine I hadn’t seen in a while due to having moved. I got a ‘Hey’ in response. I asked what was up. No reply. I sent a couple more just to be sure none got lost in transit. Still nothing. I searched on Facebook to see her account had been deleted.  
Fast forward 2 more months, I’m visiting my family and friends for Christmas break. I asked one of my friends if he had talked to Female Friend at all recently. He said she’d gone off the deep end to become a Tumblr Social Justice Warrior. No college, no job, just stays in her parent’s house all day smoking pot and reblogging propaganda on Tumblr. I visited her page. It wasn’t pretty. Most, if not all the foibles of social ‘justice’ were there. What’s more, apparently she considers herself gender fluid. I had no idea what the fuck that was, and even after Googling it I still couldn’t tell you what it means if someone asked.
 
I shrugged, because there nothing I could do, and put it to the back of my mind for the rest of the trip, and the ensuing weeks. Something I saw somewhere on Facebook, though (might have been a post from George Takei) brought the matter back. It stuck in the back of my head for a few days before I did some looking around Tumblr again. I was appalled at what I found. I was angry. I went to Encyclopedia Dramatica to see what the Hate Machine had to say. Their entry on Tumblr had some of the more choice screencaps of what festers there in the name of ‘justice’ and ‘equality’.
 
Last night I searched the drama tag just to see what was up in bronydom and found that even we weren’t safe from the parade of bullshit Tumblr helps keep afloat. The anger came boiling back. These assholes have tainted what I once thought was a good and noble cause. I want to say ignoring them is fine, but then they up and claimed someone I considered a good friend, and she likely isn’t going to get her shit together any time soon, if ever, because of them. Is fighting them back and ridiculing them going to do any good? Would it do any good to hold the worst of it in the spotlight for all to revile, or does the exposure help them in some way?

I really wish there is a way to eradicate these bastards from the face of the earth. The less of these scums in the world, the better.
 
There should be movements that brings awareness to the issue of SJW bullying people online. Better inform the public to not fall for their fallacies. Make SJWs unacceptable. And brand them as cyber bullies.

Every generation if full of terrible people, us millennial’s aren’t the first, nor the worst. Past generations brought us the joys of slavery, segregation, civil war, economic collapses, etc. A few SJW’s bitching on the internet doesn’t make an entire cohort corrupt.
 
Sociological data is showing the millennial generation has a lot going for it. Increased competitive drive among members, higher overall education and literacy rates, and more likely to lean moderate as opposed to hard left/right fringes. However, current economic issues, sparked by the “Baby Boomers”, Echo, and X have hurt our prospects a little…talk about sins of the father… But I digress, we’re certainly not the worst generation.

That must suck. The feeling of betrayal is perhaps one of the worst things a person can ever feel. I’m sorry about your friend. But shes made an awful decision in life. If she is ever going to climb out of the hell, she can seek guidance, but she must lift herself out by her own will. However, what boils my blood down to my bones is how these scumbag SJWs corrupt others into following their misguided examples, and empty causes. Yet, too seldom, are they ever held accountable. THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE! There has to be a way to get tumblr to start taking this matter seriously.

There’s also a tendency among Millennials to become NEETs, expect less professionalism at work, and of course technological distraction/reliance.

I have a friend whose sister is similar to this. It’s kind of sad to be honest, the things she got caught up in took advantage of her weak self-esteem and then bullied her to stay in when she had doubts about it.

“There’s also a tendency among Millennials to become NEETs”, so were the Echo Boomers, and they turned things around. Any generation born into an economic down-turn has faced this. We’re not the first, we won’t be the last.

You’re being short sighted, which is unusual for you. You tend to be much more far sighted and moderate than you’re being right now.

I suppose I’m just disillusioned by my generation turning into SJWs and such. And successfully bringing about short-sighted change.
 
I used to think of myself as socially liberal and as far “left” in that regard as you can be, then I learned what some in my generation associated with that. I try to avoid both SJW-thinking and “4chan Syndrome,” sometimes I just sort of pick things up without realizing it.

SJW’s aren’t liberals, nor are they conservatives. Slacktvists exist on both sides of the spectrum, and I’ve come to consider them their own breed. If Dems are left, and Reps are right, Slacktvists are floating somewhere around alpha-centuri.
 
They barrow from both sides. I’m socially liberal, fairly far so. But you’ve never seen me spout any of the same nonsense that these guy do. Just like with Bronies, the fringe doesn’t speak for the majority.

They’re a reactionary movement. I’ve noticed that such movements tend to be a mirror of the culture they’re reacting against. The Soviet union’s oligarchic collectivism was just the feudalism of tsarist russia with a marxist gloss. Cromwell’s “protectorate” was an absolutist dictatorship far more extreme than the absolutism of Charles the first’s. Look sll through history and you’ll find very few examples of revolutions that didn’t end up as mirrors of the thing they revolted against.

That was pretty much the conclusion Dickens came to in “A Tale of Two Cities.” Though we generally like to think of the French Revolution as pretty righteous for ridding them of a corrupt and complacent aristocracy Dickens had very real concerns that England would follow suit and usher in a dark age of chaos and poverty.
 
Revolution is a funny thing. I think one of the only reasons the American one purportedly did “so well” was because of the unique resources of the colonies and it’s distance from England. If such a revolution were to occur in England itself it might have had disastrous results.
