Well, before GB2016, I have seen no complaints about Mad Max Fury Road. But you’re not wrong, though.

I’m pretty sure there were, they were just ignored until it was convenient for a side to use them.

Besides, the only female-led stuff in modern days that got away with being female-led without any constant “feminist propaganda reeeeeee”-ing is Wonder Woman 2017 (and probably its upcoming sequel coming this August), My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, DC Super Hero Girls (2019), The Owl House and Amphibia. At least that’s how I see it and I think we all know why. Right, guys?

Maybe, but I’ve seen some things that suggest it gets much more intense than you would think from appearance alone.

It’s actually very good and it avoids the diversity or “grrrl powah” pitfalls that so many female based cartoons tend to fall into.  
The fight scenes are pretty good, the villains are credible threats and the characters in general are all very likeable, even the ones that are supposed to be assholes like Lex Luthor or Giganta. Also, the school’s presence in the show is minimal.

From what I remember hearing, it does the “girl power” thing more often than people think, does dumb things like an episode where one character is on a berserk rampage just because she was dumped through a text, and that the plots are painfully predictable that they have the solution clearly show in the start so you’re just waiting for them to figure it out.

That plot is actually really in character for it.
 
The character who got dumped (Star Sapphire) can get REALLY obsessive and clingy towards others in the Green lantern comics and she is known to not take rejection very well.

But does it make it good, especially since it still looks like a girl being over dramatic over a breakup if you take the source info out? I don’t watch the show, so I wouldn’t know if it established that in the show or if they’re relying on the viewer knowing outside info to understand it.

And “X character has a major overreaction to rejection/breakup” is already a plot/gag in a lot of shows

You have heard about it, while I have watched the series and seen with my own eyes how it avoids it. In fact, the inevitable “Boys vs Girls” episode where the hero girls meet the Invenci-Bros (air horns) was extra funny because BOTH teams behaved like turboassholes, and when the boy’s team was defeated, the girls jumped in to show them how’s done, only to get defeated even faster then them.  
Eventually both theams decided to join forces and work as a team, and they displayed an impecable teamwork where nobody tried to outshine the other.  
Hell, the final victory was achieved thanks to a male hero, not a female one.
 
After that, every episode with a boy vs girl conflict followed the same formula, where BOTH of them behave like turboassholes and where every other character watching them is aware of that.

And one that I’ve been given the impression is much more common in female characters than male ones. And if it’s used so often, doesn’t that make it stale? Do they do something to make it somewhat fresh?

Sounds like they have to go “see, we’re different” multiple times to get the point across instead show it if you put it that way.

And? It can still fall into pitfalls even when claiming not to, especially when preaching that they aren’t.
