Apparently, one story goes (may be false, or not) former Ninty prez, Hiroshi Yamachi was angry that Squaresoft, (as they were called back then) moved development of FF7 from the N64 to the Playstation, due to it's disc format allowing more data storage, (though FF7 still had to use multiple discs) and more robust cinematic scenes, and told them "not to come back," but another story goes that SquareSoft did a contract to work exclusively for Sony, and thought the Playstation would be better. (Especially, 'cause the N64 wasn't selling as well in Japan as it did in other regions.)
