…By the way, does anyone else find it odd how Mantine evolves from Mantyke by having a Remoraid in your party and leveling up Mantyke, but Remoraid hasn’t actually been part of Mantine’s body in sprites or official artwork since its debut in Gen 2?

It evolving at level 60 is going to be a pain, though.

I think it’s meant to be a reference to those fish that attract themselves to larger fish for a free ride.

Yeah, that makes sense. It’s just weird that hasn’t actually been part of the sprites since its Gen 2 debut.

It’s the image Pokemon Database uses. And bon the sprite section, it shows Remoraid under it’s “wings” for gens 2 and 3.

So ironically Remoraid stopped appearing in the sprites in the generation where Mantyke was introduced.
 
So which generation is that official artwork from then? It kind of looks like Sugimori’s Gen IV art style, but I could’ve sworn that Remoraid wasn’t part of that (unless the Pokemon Database did an edit putting it in there).

No idea, and I have no idea why they would edit it in. It could be that someone else did, or it’s like that official, but our memories are tricking us

Funny how Tyranitar and Metagross are the only pseudo-legendaries that aren’t Dragon-types, and Gen 3 is the only generation with two pseudo-legendaries.

It’s no different than Nincadia evolving into Ninjask then you get a Shedinja if you have an open slot in your party. Or Pancham to Pangoro if you have a Dark Type.

Wait is that how it worked?? O.o I never thought you needed a dark type lol :p I just thought it evolved by normal standards but maybe cuz I had carvanah on my team

Can confirm that. I have one on team and had to swap in a dark mon to evolve it.

I definitely did not expect the anime to reference Rose of Versailles like that… Or is this a Utena reference? For some reason I always mix those two up despite them not being remotely similar.
