Cristina Kirchner, vice-president of Argentina, was sentenced to six years of prison for a case of corruption related to public procurement of roadwork contracts that took place during her presidential tenure (granted, her political immunity protects her from incarceration for now; plus there are suspicions that, like for Lula in Brazil, the case against her was, at least in part, politically motivated — see what I said about corrupt politicians on the previous page).

What he meant is that many South-American left-leaning politicians are just as hopelessly corrupt as the rest.
