Yeah, about that. The ADL page for Pepe actually points out that most uses of Pepe are actually benign, but it also points out that sometimes it’s combined with stuff like swastikas or white supremacist symbols, and THAT’S what you should watch out for.

Technically, they’re only classifying it as a hate symbol when it’s used in combination with already pre-established hate symbols.
