Not at all.
Project Wonderful’s primary/main demographic was content creators (especially comic artists). Ten years ago, everyone had their own websites they were posting content on, and that’s when PW thrived. Creators would setup their site, post their content to it, and add PW ads to make revenue off it.
These days, the internet is much different, and most content creators stick to posting their content on large social media sites like YouTube, Tumblr, etc. There just wasn’t as much need for Project Wonderful these days, so they decided to shut down. You can read more here

Let’s say it without fear, we are full of crazy and even Captain Kirk of Star Trek left fleeing, but really seriously the truth if it would be difficult for any chain of ads to stay a lot on the site, and we know what kind of companies would remain…are the worst, my avatar one day would probably be replaced by something like: Russian girls hot and the photo of something naked.

The idea’s mostly for artists to advertise commissions and art packs and what not. We’re gonna be a little bit flexible so long as it’s relevant and tasteful.And honestly, probably not. Most advertising networks do a lot of unethical stuff such as tracking visitors, gathering way too many statistics and that. We’re not really fans of that kinda stuff. Not to mention that due to some of the content we host, a lot of advertising networks would probably be hesitant to work with us anyway.

I’m not sure the exact monthly cost, but I believe it’s somewhere between $600-700usd a month.
Over half of it is for our primary server, as a system with 24x500GB SSDs is not cheap. It loads images fast as hell though.

Really a shame that PW had to shut down. They were pretty much the only halfway decent ad network out there.
Of course, that’s probably why they had to shut down. Pretty much everything that made them not horrible was also the entire reason why it was hard for them to compete with other ad networks.
Oh well, at least it won’t hurt the site too much.

Well, that’s unfortunate. Ethical advertising is now even more of a lost art. I kind of hate that websites are having to consolidate like companies are, but that’s the way it goes. I am very much reminded now to update my Patreon stuff though
