Unfortunately, without a credit card from you, we can’t verify your status - and if we do have your credit card information we can’t keep you anonymous because of the new General Data Protection Regulations.
Whether anonymous users can be supported under Article 13, without running afoul of GDPR, is something that we’re still waiting for courts to hash out. But that’s going to require someone with the money for a legal fight to initiate.
It’s sad, but maybe anonymous use of the internet is not something that will be a part of our futures.
That’s a frightening thought, isn’t it?
These kinds of things make one think, don’t they? For me, it makes me feel like getting out and talking to my legislators and representatives.
Because if we don’t get involved in the process of deciding what our laws should be, or how we want the internet to be governed, then maybe this is just a preview of the kind of future we’re going to have.
