Thing is, Sugar was more of a character when she wasn’t Mac’s lover, and was toned down to be that lover.

In the Our Town premier, she shown an interest in cooking (even after she gives up her CM), as well as wanting her CM back, as well as fit enough to chase down Starlight and accurate enough with a snow pie for some potential. In her ep with Mac, she’s just a baker that’s easy to woo until the script says otherwise.
