Season 9 Discussion Thread [Warning: SPOILERS!!!!!]

I’ll be over here assigning zero qualititative expectations based on synopses.

It doesn’t need to be too on the nose. An episode where Firelight and Stellar Flare visit as the main story but with a running gag of asking for grand foals among other things.
 
It sounds predictable but you know what they say about time tested formulas. Cliches become cliched because they can bear repetition.

New synopsis for the premiere does indeed state Grogar will be a part of it, but won’t be teaming up with Sombra.
 
So mu guess is either competing villains or that Grogar will slip away for Sombra to be the more prominent villain while Grogar builds up for later

I’m so worn out on this show. Maybe I only watch the finale.

So now it’s seemingly a case of Grogar using necromancy to bring Ugly Red and Black OC back. They even refer to him as having a plan in mind, so it seems like the former was able to restore some form of intellect to the latter. Remains to see if he’ll also have a personality now to boot.
 
EDIT: It also makes the Seige arc in the comics 100% retconned. Fuck yeah, eat dirt, Radiant Sue.||

Now I wonder how the people who kept playing contrarian to the info leaked about S09 will be able to continue the contrarian game.  
As in, what kind of goalpost moving they will do to continue being contrarians forever.

I still think there’s NO.FREAKING.WAY they’re actually making Twilight the new sole ruler of Equestria while much better alternatives are around. And hey, at least bringing back Sombrero using a new villain at least is a step up from “Lol we just bring him back cause we’re out of ideas”.

The part about letting Twilight in charge of the entire country sounds dumb indeed, but I’ve seen the show staff do dumber things.

Considering that so far the only part of the leaks that turned out to either be inaccurate or changed later was the G5 transition movie being moved from 2020 to 2021, I don’t see how anyone can continue acting contrarian.
 
Though I do suspect that whatever G5 ends up actually being will be significantly different from the initial concept art leaks.

While we’re on the subject, was the Rainbow Roadtrip special in the leaks? I don’t remember (though I did mostly avoid them except for when I saw people talking about them).

So Grogar is back with Sombra. I wonder if they also manage to fit in Tirek and Chrysalis too. I guess the actual allianc of villains will most likely happen in the S9 finale. But considering the synopsis Grogar might not want to resurrect Sombra the second time.

My guess is that Grogar resurrects Sombra hoping that he’ll work for him out of gratitude, only for Sombra to stab him in the back and do his own thing.

I hope he will learn his leasson after Mane6 defeats him and join Grogar in the finale. It would be a waste to make an all villain showdown and not actually involve all of the villains

What if Twilight and friends gets totally defeated by Sombra and Grogar and rendered powerless

That would be disappointing, they are barely characters and yet we suppose to believe they are already huge friends who can wield Elements of Harmony? I would rather make CMC, Gabby and other kids who befriended CMC as new elements. Or how about Pillars of Equestria who are still in good shape, why not rebound the Elements to them?
