(yeah, but three things:  
-the world is the jungle kind of crapsack, if a raider gets themselves killed, he’s out, the mist walkers don’t even revive their dregs.  
-if i read the introduction right your guy is sitting at the singular save road, the caravans passing along it are armed to the teeth so the raiders that DO have a brain look for easier marks  
-people will generaly assume that if someone arrives at their doorstep alive, he has done so over at least three dead raiders.

(oh they are, it’s just that their leader knows better than to pick a fight there, they did make a raid at dragonsreach but had to pull back hard, and their lifegem fragment is actually a bit crap compared to the other two.)

(I’d be as careful as I could if going through a domain inhabited by roving bands of psychopaths, and only fight them on advantageous terms.)  
(I bet that spike of brain activity upon death is excruciatingly awful to experience, assuming they don’t also torture those they know will resurrect.)

As the two begin hiking across the highway-side hinterlands, Kratek takes from one of his pockets a plug, with it’s cable notably spliced into hand-crafted rabbit-ears of wound copper wiring. Connecting it to a small portable lamp, the light brightly illuminates, as if now powered by an invisible battery.
