It is probably a bit our of proportion, but I prefer to think people are looking more at their potential as a couple than thinking that they actually are one (although I kind of want them to be a couple myself and I freely admit to liking how well they complement each other as characters and friends). Still, there’s always the possibility that it could be legitimized in the future. In a recent interview about the movie breaking the $1 billion box office mark and possible sequels, directors Byron Howard and Rich Moore actually discussed the issue of their relationship.  

So who knows? Only time will tell.

PPG 2016.  
JT and TTG are fine concepts and even have their moments, but it’s just that they suck at their main goal of being funny.  
PS to me doesn’t really do anything horrible (I still think it’s bad) minus the eye bleeding visual designs and color palette.
 
PPG 2016 stands above the rest by being the opposite of everything it tries to be. David Cage syndrome.  
The show runners talked about giving the girls more personality, but all we got was less.  
The show’s a comedy, but I don’t find if funny (Just like JT and TTG).  
It tries to be modern while making dated references and jokes.  
It tries to be progressive and girl empowering, but doesn’t really do either and when it tries you just get things like the unicorn episode.  
The opener has great animation, but the actual meat of the show has sub-par character designs and animation not to mention animation errors beyond the common level and animation mistakes that baffle me when I think how someone missed such a thing like color flickering during the fight with the spider.  
I could go on and on. To me PPG ‘16 stand below the rest (outside of complete abomination shows too bad to even be listed) because it’s a show that acts like it’s hot shit when it’s just hot…shit.

And while I’m splurging let me say that I don’t think Johnny Test is a bad concept and that its first season or two were actually decent.
