On July 16, 1969, Apollo 11 was launched by a Saturn V rocket.
Just imagine the sheer amount of trust needed on the parts of Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins.
They were basically strapped to a massive, 363-foot tall bomb, and they had to trust it not to explode with them on it, trust Mission Control to help them with the trajectory, trust the on-ship computer to make sure they didn’t overshoot or undershoot the lunar orbit, trust nothing to go dreadfully wrong once on the lunar surface, and that’s not even mentioning the trip back to Earth.
