@40kponyguy
I know, I just especially like that comic of yours :)
You heard right, Rarity is fabulous! I saw your favourite of the Mane Six is Fluttershy.
Good idea about leaving some of the hair white, I’ll have to try that.
@YateTiemeng
You can still create some good effects with pencils like with my Sour Sweet picture here:
@YateTiemeng
All my own pictures are done on printer copier paper. It’s fine, as long as you don’t rip the stuff when rubbing out one of your sketches…..
It’ll be worth investing in a fine marker. Purely pencil sketches don’t show up well when uploaded normally. They don’t need to be expensive, just make sure you get one that doesn’t smudge. (I use the ‘Sharpie’ superfine markers myself for lining in, and they’re around £3 each here in the UK).
@BlazingDazzlingDusk
Just to say, that link there was to my crossover comic I’m working on, not my Dazzlings one.
Glad to hear my sketches are approved of though.
Heard you like Rarity too, (profile page). Not done many drawings of her, aside from said crossover comic I linked to.
One of my Tenchi crossover pictures had her in it, with Ayeka. (Characters are very similar in some ways) >>855981
Oh, and a trick I started doing was leaving some parts of the hair/mane white, where the light’s catching it. I started after doing another crossover image (Twilight with Washu from the Tenchi series, another similar character pairing) >>892228
@YateTiemeng
Yep, it’s great to see that people care about the characters. :)
@40kponyguy
Thank you very much! :) I spent ages shading this one. Her hair was the hardest thing to get right.
I think your drawings are great, as MrMildock said. I especially love your Dazzlings’ art! That comic strip always makes me laugh, no matter how many times I look at it.
@YateTiemeng
Thanks. I think you can see the similarities in style between my own drawings and this one here though.
When I first uploaded my drawings to Derpibooru, my sketches stood out, because my style was unusual here. Several other artists have started doing their own drawings since which look similar.
Basically, I do a pencil sketch, then go over it with a fine marker pen. I then erase the original pencil drawing, and colour in the result with colouring pencils.
I have used felt tips in the past, but I found they give a very blotchy finish.
It’s also easier to achieve some interesting effects with colouring pencils too.
Transparent effects are quite easy to achieve.
Simply don’t draw in the lines on the part you want to see behind something else. Fill it in with the colour of the back-most part first, then simply colour the transparent part’s colour straight over this.
It’s how I achieved Sonata’s hair behind her wings here >>853902
Also Sonata’s pony tail here >>888472 (Not as noticeable)
I used the same technique for the divider panels on the train in my comic strip here >>917807
@Mrmildock
I think my own goal was to break the 3 figure barrier with a safe image.
Safe traditional art rarely breaks the 3 figure limit. It’s a good target to aim for.
@40kponyguy
Thank you that is nice of you. I may have something uploaded in a day or two. Nothing too fancy just a sketch or two when trying to copy the show. I try not to have expectations and that will make it easy, in this case my huge and active fantasy isn’t the best thing to have. ^^’
Also yeah. There are many great and simply pro artists who are in their own league. That is kinda spooky for sure.
Noticeable improvement with the shading here. Good to see. I’m still drawing a blank with ideas for new sketches for myself, although there were a couple I never got around to doing.
At the moment, I’m working on my crossover comic, although that’s got some mediocre scores here.
I know why.
Too many scenes of characters’ faces explaining what’s going on.
Need to do a couple of other doodles to stop me getting bored with the comic.
@YateTiemeng
I may keep an eye out for your own drawings here. May be able to give a few pointers. (Not that I’m that good at drawing myself tbh.
I like to think I’m a little above average, but when I compare to the likes of yakovlev-vad
or danmakuman (who does a lot of nsfw I will warn those clicking this link) I feel my art is okay at best.
I really took notice of BlazingDazzlingDusk’s art because her style is very similar to my own.
She’s made a noticeable improvement over the last few pictures. Just click her artist’ tag here. The voting on the images speaks for itself.
I am trying to learn art myself and I am sure we all need some encouragement here and there.
(Also we like ponies, being positive like them never hurts.)
Okay :) I’m sure it will be good, though.
Thank you. I will have stuff up in a day or two. Of course it will be a first drawing so it won’t look very nice. ^^’

Sounds good. Also I might get a cheap digital drawing tablet too.

Sounds interesting. For now all I have is HB (no 2) pencils and cheap paper. Gotta work with that.
@BlazingDazzlingDusk
^^
This is why I am still around ponies after all these years.

Thank you so much and thank you for your favourite! :) I have always loved Aria’s eyes and I really wanted to make them stand out here.

So far, I’ve done it with these images. Funnily enough, every single one of them is a Dazzlings image.

Oh. Thanks! I sure hope so too. I have to say that I won’t be uploading around these hours. I am not normally up at this date. haha
I’ll keep my eyes peeled for your stuff too. Definitely sounds exciting.
@40kponyguy
Average? Your art is amazing, especially your Dazzlings art. They always puts a smile on my face.
@BlazingDazzlingDusk
You are very welcome.It sure is. :)

No problem ;)
Thank you! ^^
I will definitely check out your art when you upload it!
Very true :)

Thank you, I’m so glad you like her! Aria is amazing.
And thank you so much for the encouraging words :)
Keep on drawing. ^^
