Ah… What a waste of a once potentially good character…

The declaration of Cadence to be an orphan makes canonical, at least in the comics, the events of the book “Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell”.

You know, for someone who keeps prattling on about others needing to understand her position, Hope does seem unwilling to listen to any other side that doesn’t confirm her beliefs about sombra and the Umbran ponies. I get why, she’s known him since he was a ‘filly’ and spent hundreds of years living with them, but you’d think that in all that time between growing up in the empire to watching Sombra becoming a tyrant, to orchestrating these entire events that she would have at least tried to understand the other perspectives on the matter, like hearing from someone who was actually around when the umbran were, maybe read up on them or just something like that.
 
But nope, her “they’re just misunderstood and damn the consequences if I’m wrong” attitude really highlights how frustrating this story is, especially because she’s an interesting character, just written on contrivances like everyone else for the story to even happen.
 
As for the Umbran themselves, I feel about the same for them that I felt for Sombra when he first showed up. Possibly interesting idea with a cool design that gets ruined by there just not being enough to either, They’re just another evil face to get blasted at the end of the whole mess and done with until the fans start coming up with better origins and stories to tell about them.

Yeah, she’s the best character to come out of IDW.
 
It’s just too bad that they don’t focus on her but on other characters they don’t know how to write.
