Braeburn spent every moment he could with Fluttershy for the rest of his visit. Eventually, though, he had to go back to his own orchard. The pair kept in contact, writing many letters back and forth between Braeburn’s visits, and their relationship grew.

Glad to hear that you’re safe. News is getting out to these parts a lot faster than it used to, but I still have a good while to worry between updates on what’s going on. Your letter took quite the weight off my heart.  
I’m glad things are going well with the griffons. A bunch of us in town have gathered extra blankets and supplies to send to help. If you and the girls go back for another relief visit, be sure to let them know that they’ve got lots of friends here sending warm wishes their way.  
Things are starting to slow down here in Appleoosa, now that winter’s coming. Most of the buffalo have left, but some are staying. There’s a nice fellow named Eagle Feather that’s gotten real good at ferrying. My shoes have never felt better.  
The farm’s been a little lonely since Maraschino and Tex moved in with Silverstar. I wish you could have come down for the wedding. It was a right pretty affair. The three of them make a real good family, and they seem really happy together. Tex is shooting up like a weed. He bucked his first apple tree this summer and got about twelve apples. Maraschino was so proud. I ain’t seen her smile so big since I first hired her. She’ll still be working for me, but things won’t be the same without the two of them around all the time.  
As for me, I’m doing as well as can be expected. With things slowing down like they are, I hope I can come up and visit soon. I miss you a whole lot, and I can’t wait to see you again.  
The prairie dogs send their love, and so do I.
